Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Just called VM and spoke to an utter ***K in a far flung place. Managed to get transferred to a Customer Service Executive back in blighty. Manged to renegotiate my 100Mb line back down to £30.25 fixed for 12 months. No joy in promising her the world to get me boosted to the 150mb line. Got an email from the lady telling me the boost should take place between December & February, and they will email to let advise nearer the time.

Checked the postcode checker which confirms February 2016. Will try again tomorrow. Can any one advise of the correct number to call get the internet boost?

Order took less than a day to complete.

This is my problem too but on CSGO.

I can connect to a Danish server at 25 ping
UK server i always play on 170 ping no choke no loss no variance just a couple of millisecond delay on shots registering.

I've done a trace route and I'm connecting via Germany at the moment.

I've re-installed windows and steam it's definitely not me

speed test and everything else is fine :)

I dont know why and im still not sure but it seems it was my router causing this. I connected straight to my homehub (in modem mode) because I knew that if I phoned virgin and told them I was using my own router they wouldn't be any help and my pings were down to ~20ms.

I triple/quadruple checked everything and no matter what I did when I connected through my router my pings shot up. Loaded DD-WRT onto my router this afternoon as I really couldn't think of what else to do and now look

Your guess is as good as mine

I called and negotiated my 152mb broadband only package to £32 for 18 months awhile ago, got a letter the other saying it's going up by £1.75 from 1st November even though I'm still within my 18 months.

What should I do, call again and re-negotiate, It's ridiculous they can't stick to their own terms.

So along with less of a speed increase than originally reported it turns out there will now be no increase in upload speed :

Old Speed: 50Mbps [3Mbps Upload]
New Speed: 70Mbps [3Mbps Upload]

Old Speed: 100Mbps [6Mbps Upload]
New Speed: 150Mbps [6Mbps Upload]

Old Speed: 152Mbps [12Mbps Upload]
New Speed: 200Mbps [12Mbps Upload]

Virgin Media’s New Broadband Speed Tiers

Old Speed: 50Mbps [3Mbps Upload]
New Speed: 70Mbps [5Mbps Upload]

Old Speed: 100Mbps [6Mbps Upload]
New Speed: 150Mbps [10Mbps Upload]

Old Speed: 152Mbps [12Mbps Upload]
New Speed: 200Mbps [12Mbps Upload]

Thanks but dont have a virgin phone. I call the 0800 number and keep being transferred to India customer service who has no idea what I am talking about and keep telling me I will have to pay for the upgrade:eek::eek:

Just spoke to Virgin who made me an offer on a 12 month contract the big bang tv package including 150Mb broad band including the new AC2 hub for £32.00pm. also received an email from Virgin following on from my discount yesterday. Email confirms £26.00pm for my current 100Mb internet only.

It just keeps getting better....

I'm looking at my Upgrade Options page and I can go from L(50Mbps) to XL(100Mbps) for and extra £1.46pm. However, the price on the page then adds another £16.99pm for a Virgin Phone line, which I don't want or need, and will raise the price by £18.49pm. What happens if I click the Upgrade Now button? Is it immediate or is there another confirmation page?

Also, if I do this now, will I still be eligable for the coming (November for me) speed upgrades?

Cheers!

I just spotted this thread & checked to see when mine is due, it's available now although I'm only going up to 70mb, if it's free then why does it then say 'We'll email you in the next 48 hours to let you know the exact cost of your order

Is it coincidence but since updating to Windows 10 Pro 64bit my VM up to 152mbps is crawling along. Wasn't even getting 10mbps last night. :(

Been looking a bit more at this and some people are saying you need to use Virgin provided coax cable as it is 'special' and you risk affecting all customers on the segment if using one of lesser quality.

Complete tosh!

Use a high quality coax by all means but the one virgin supply is by no means high quality.
