Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Virgin were a joke when i was in uni, always slowing to a crawl in the evenings. Certainly allows them to take the **** with the 'Up to' 100Mbps.

Anyone who genuinely believes they will get 200Mbps all the time is on another planet, Virgin is plagued with congestion and this will only make it worse. :p

BT is expensive and only offers 80Mbps but it seems to be something they actually have the capability to deliver, unlike Virgin. :p

Since I've had my upgrade I've been getting a pretty consistent 210Mb...

What planet am I on then?
That was all of our misguided thoughts, after VM trialled 300Mb. However it seems they decided not to rollout 300Mb and went with the crap outlined already..

Crap?

Oh well, Better then nothing
Or is it...

Than, not then.

I have spells when my ping to my mumble server and a particular uk BF4 server I play a lot on is high. Lasts about a week and happens every couple of months on average.

Just done a trace route to my mumble server and is routing me through Europe it seems, what would cause this?

Different websites give me different locations based of the telia.net IP but they are all mainland Europe.

Any suggestions would be great, Dont feel like wasting my time ringing Virgin, I've done it in the past and they get me switching wifi channels even after I tell them im on a wired connection haha

I think I'll be phoning them for an early upgrade:
We’ll be in touch between July 2016 and December 2016 to tell you when your speed upgrade is ready.

Preston must be a gutter region to them these days.

Dont bother with wired personally, everything wireless on the latest superhub ac is plenty quick enough.

PC has an AC adapter and maxes out the 150mb connection, waiting to see if it will max out 200mb :)

Range doesn't cover where my desktop is so rules out wireless from the hub.

Crap meaning the 200Mb speeds when 300Mb was expected due to the trial.

Not that I care, I don't have Virgin cable in my area... :p

It was expected based on rumours and trials. There was never anything officially stated. Trials are trials to see how it works.

300 would have great, but 200 is far from crap. I'm paying less than I have been for a few months for a faster connection.

Still on 100MB here, should change in November :)

This is my problem too but on CSGO.

I can connect to a Danish server at 25 ping
UK server i always play on 170 ping no choke no loss no variance just a couple of millisecond delay on shots registering.

I've done a trace route and I'm connecting via Germany at the moment.

I've re-installed windows and steam it's definitely not me

speed test and everything else is fine :)

I was on the 300MB/20mb trial for 3 months but they ended it last week so i'm back to 152mb/10mb :(

Apparently I can upgrade to 200mb now but have to pay £5.99 delivery for the new superhub but i'm going to leave it for now.
