Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Thinking about it, when I connected to my nephew's Superhub 2 with my phone and tested with speedtest it was giving me about 150Mb, so this superhub 1 must definitely be bottlenecking my wifi speed. When I get the SH2, will I need to go into 192.168.0.1 and change a bunch of settings to establish a connection?

So my speed upgrade is ready i order it Monday 19th, ring up today they have forgotten/lost my order so ive got to wait for manned install on 4/11/15.

I was fine with self install but apparrently they cant find a slot to even yodel me the superhub 2ac :(

Do virgin still limit the connection speeds if you download a lot in a short space of time?

No. There is only 'management' on the upstream.

I'm moving house over this weekend, so I rang retentions to 'cancel' so we could move to Sky/BT. After the usual 'Oh but you are a valued customer sir' we ended up with:

200Mbps broadband
TV XL
M phone
2 x TiVO boxes

£40 a month. Can't really argue with that. :)

That's a mental price! I have similar and including line rental its about £89!

My 100mb net went from £26.50 to £29.50 few months back. Out of contract now so u reckon if I rang virgin I could get the price down again and get them to bring the free upgrade in speed up now instead of sometime in Nov.

There are a couple of T4 timeouts that occurred on the 18th which would have caused the superhub to basically reboot itself.

I'd keep an eye on the log to see if it shows any T4 timeouts around when you get the dropouts and if they are present you could possibly post on the virgin forums and see what they have to say.

Edit: If you could post your downstream and upstream power levels that could help because if they are too high they could cause drop outs.

Thanks for the help/advice/effort :D Appreciate it

Them stats look all in spec and and extremely similar to what mine report.

You could have a dodgy superhub as some are known to drop out under any kind of load, so I'd pop a post on the virgin support forum letting them know about your problems and they should be able to sort your problem out in some way such as sending out a replacement superhub if needed etc..

So I usually was paying 26.50 pm for 100mb. Few months back it went up to £29. Just got latest ebill for £33. Bloomin virgin. Defo will be ringing to get that down at least near to what I was paying before. Grr.

New Superhub & 200mb upgrade was due for delivery yesterday. Nothing turned up so called VM. "sorry sir we have no record of your order or upgrade"

Bloody usless, I've now got to wait until 4th November for the next delivery slot.

VM Faster BB

Quite ironic I think, I've just had an email from VM telling me "Your broadband upgrade is coming soon" I click on the link and it won't open with any browser. I don't hold out much hope for faster BB if they can't get this working :D

I wish I'd never got the 200Mb upgrade up from 152Mb! All this year I haven't been traffic managed, not even on weekends and now traffic managed. Down to 4Mb Argghh! The missus talking to her sister in Latvia on Skype for hours uses 6Mb on it's own (1080p Logitech web cam).

What makes it worse I've not long come from my friends in Latvia and did a speed test on his machine...

and he pays £13 a month (18 Euros) Arghhh! I could throttle (pun intended) the guy or girl who designed Virginmedia's infrastructure.

I'm on 200mb and never been managed. You must be in a congested area.....

That upload :-). We can dream......
Indeed, if only! Right now I'd be happy with 20Mb unlimited.

I didn't go from uncongested to congested the day I got the upgrade. I can tell from the SSID's that I'm one of the only ones on Virginmedia. Time to make some phone calls. I suppose I shouldn't complain too much because after all discounts I'm paying £23.30/month for 200Mb only. But still...
