Virgin Media Discussion Thread

That's good to know! So I just need to pop those two connectors off, remove the screw and the whole square chip will come off? Awesome. Just need a link now to a recommended 5G adapter please. I hope they're not too expensive :)

Put a wanted on MM I have a collection of Intel ones in a draw....

Thanks guys. I downloaded the latest driver direct from intel by first installing their driver update utility and it finding what i needed. So now the driver is updated from 2012 to one from 2014, but makes no difference to the speed. :(

Moogleys, I might well do that.

chroniclard, it seems there are tiny 5ghz usb adapters that I can plug into my laptop. Has anyone got any experience of them, as opposed to hard wiring a new adapter inside the laptop?

I think so, when I got a new superhub I received a couple of emails and packaging for the old superhub saying to return via collectplus within 30 days, or i'd be charged

New SuperHub did arrive today. Installed easily enough and now up and running again.

Am I required to send back the first SuperHub?

You are meant to re-use the box the new one came in and a sticker that comes inside and take it to a collect plus location.

They told me on the phone just to keep it as a spare...

Alright, I'll hold onto it until I receive some email requesting it back :p thanks. Not sure why they'd want it back though, they don't refurb them to send other customers do they?

I bought a TP-LINK Archer C2 AC750 from ebay for cheap.
How would I set it up with my superhub?
Thanks

Login into your router, put it into Modem Mode.

Connect port 4 on the Superhub to the WAN port on the router.

It should pick it up from there.... that is what I did for my C9.

Hi

Long time vm user here on 100bb line, Ive had the original superhub 1 for ages which is in modem mode and I use an Asus n66u instead.

What I would like to ask is if the latest superhub 2ac is good enough to replace my n66u?

Stability and signal strength is my main concern. Obviously if it could it would be ideal as I could go back to 1 router and have a tidier looking area.

Not sure I can get it free or not but perhaps I should get it even if it meant putting it in modem mode again if I found it poor.

Thanks

Probably not unless you have AC clients (the N66U is not AC). The N66U will still likely give a better signal (external aerials).

The main thing is that the Superhubs have cut down functionality to make them easy to support and harder for customers to break, so if you want to do anything even slightly advanced, you may find the Superhubs just don't provide it.

Anyone getting issues with virgin media today?

Im getting internet dropping altogether, speed drops to 20mbps, 100mbps drop again rinse repeat.

Rang them up waiting for a callback for an engineer apt as apparantly it connects then drops to there end.

But when i rang up they were having issues with there systems as well.

Guys, what's the BEST 5ghz/2.4ghz router to buy for my superhub 2? I use a wired connection to my PC and wireless for everything else (2 x mobiles and an ipad) I am on an upto 152mb/s connection, soon to be upped to 200mb/s. The 1st priority would be the speeds my PC gets.

I have been getting really REALLY **** speeds for the last month at peak times (when I damn well want the speed!!!!). I am on an up to 152mb/s and I was getting 300kb/s in steam the other day. :( I am lucky if I get 40mb/s at peak time.

Basically its over subscribing and they just cant handle the amount of people.

That depends what you would like to spend. I personally have an Asus RT-AC68U.
