Virgin Media Discussion Thread

£3.49 price increase has finally come through after waiting ages for it so I can cancel and get a better deal in the missus' name. Decent of them to give me until the end of January to phone and cancel FoC, usually it's only 28 days.

On my superhubs operation configuration page , it shows my connected rate under 'primary downstream service flow' if that shows as around 160000000 then the modem is at least connected at 150mbps, and it could well be your connection to the hub not being gigabit.

When I first gof upgraded to 150, my modem never connected at the higher rate, customer service had to push something to my modem before it finally worked.

was just about to call them and looked at those settings and all appeared to be ok, did a quick google search and found someone who had similar issues, disabled QoS on my Asus RT-N66u and boom, full speed.

Mines here too, unfortunately I only live with my dog so thinking I could possibly wangle getting it in his name...

I use Google dns, less YouTube buffering.

You cannot change dns in the superhub1 not sure about the others. So you have to do it per device in the configuration.

Was expecting the price hike soon so call them to find out what's going on. Got my price frozen for 12 months plus early upgrade to 200mb instead of waiting till next year. All good.

Is everyone using Virgin Media's DNS?

If not, better alternatives?

As far as DNS security goes im not an expert at all, are they both as secure as each other? since Googles is public are there actually any negatives compared to Virgins, or only positives?

Speed boost just kicked in yo

It well be the VPN messing with your second result. Mine regularly makes it look like i'm getting double speed when i'm not really.

Anyone having issues with facebook via virgin? Cant access it at all from my PC or on wifi on my phone.

Works fine tho on my phone if I use mobile data and turn wifi off

Finally got round to phoning up to get a discount because of the price increases. With the increase i'd have been paying £60 a month but now paying £35 for the next 6 months then £54 after that. By the time the 6 months is up no doubt there will be another increase or one due soon to get it cheaper again anyway.
