Virgin Media Discussion Thread

If its the same Sir name they wont do it. You can use your Wifes previous sir name and it works fine (dont ask me how i know ;) ) but as other have mentioned technically its Credit Fraud However as long as you pay the bill i cant see them taking some one to court for giving them money. Same deal with Sky and their TV if its the same sir name they wont treat you as a new customer.

Thanks was not aware of this! Yeah I had a feeling it maybe a bit iffy with just a different first name and same surname, guess will have to do it the hard way and try to negotiate a better deal, I can't risk the 30 day notice thing since my luck is so bad I probably won't get a call back and can't risk the service being cut whole house hold depends on it!

Perhaps if it takes 30 days for virgin to disconnect you and they have not yet called to offer a better deal can you call up and cancel the cancellation I wonder ?

As luck would have it, my wife has retained her maiden name as that is what she practices under. So, that won't be an issue. Will give them a couple of weeks and see if they give a call back.

Currently just a little hacked off as new customers will be getting a better deal than me...effectively £30p.a. and there is no connection schpiel to go through on my end so no engineer visits etc. I may not be their longest running customer here but seven years is a reasonable amount of time.

NB

I always wonder was is the point in paying lots of marketing money to garner new clients when for a fraction of the price, they can reduce churn and achieve the same thing. People will be more inclined to try a new service when they now they are going to be rewarded with benefits the longer they are customers.

For example, for every year you are a client, you choose whether your monthly photos printed for free is increased by 10 or your speeds go up by 10% or your "loyalty" discount increases by a £1 etc (all subject to maximums).

Customers then select the bonus that is more in line with their priorities.

I moved house last weekend and I ordered a new virgin account via quidco with £110 cashback, 200mb net, xxl tv and phone line with 50% for 9 months.

I phoned and cancelled my current line at my old house, they asked why I'm cancelling, I told them it is because quidco cashback for a new account as a new customer at a new property, the guy said to me "good work, I would have done the same"

So all good!

Can somebody please tell me how I change the IP address of the Superhub 3? Its running on 192.168.0.1 as default, I need to change it to 192.168.1.x.

Is it not under the BASIC SETTINGS on the hub GUI?

No such setting on mine.. I've got:
Home/Connected Devices/Modem Mode/Advanced Settings/Admin.

Under Advanced I've got: Wireless/Security/DHCP/uPnP and Tools.. Neither of these will allow me to change the IP address of the network.

Unfortunately is isn't possible now but I can hint that in upcoming months it *may* be implemented into the GUI.

Got a phone call last week offering me phone TV and upping my BB to 200meg for about £16 pm more great.

I've had several emails now and each one is less of a package than I agreed. Turns out my cabinet is full so they can't supply the phone so everything is on hold now until someone leaves or they add capacity. No issues with BB just to many people on the phone network.

That was what I suggested last page, I am wondering however if it can be done under the same house hold but just a different first name and with same surname.

Did you have to pay any disconnection fee or reconnection fee when you signed up as a new account under quidcos offer?

I guess one can legally cancel and claim they wanted to test the open market ie sky or bt, but then decided 1-2 days after to go back to virgin and signed up under quidcos deal or is the still fraud I ponder.

Same here, I've just had my e-mail informing me of the £3.49 price rise. Works out as a 8.5% rise... bit of a joke if you ask me but there's not much out there to compete with VM 200MB package. :(

8.5%? Hah! This £3.49 is a 30% increase for me!!

Bit of a ****take really as I only renewed with them about 2 months ago as well :(

I would go elsewhere, but realistically speaking no other provider is going to come close even with the price increase :(

Im on the 100Mb package but am due to get upgraded to 150Mb
Spoke to CS whop said i have to go online, log in and order it but i cannot for teh life of me see where the option is on my virgin media account page.

Where is the option to register for the increase?!??!

Just got a call from retentions.

I had the Big Fun package (100Mb/170+ channels/free weekend and evening calls). New normal price £40pm + £17.99 line rental. In contract, I had been paying £37 less a £5 "loyalty discount" so the total was £43.66 with Line rental paid up a year in advance.

In essence, they offered to pay for the line rental which is great as the only time we really use the phone is to answer calls on the PPI insurance we have never had.

That was great. However, she then proceeded to offer a discount on the package from £40pm to £30pm. So, the total I will now be paying is £30pm.

I proceeded to thank her profusely for the delightful end of year present. In the end, I forgot to get her name but I am sure that she is in angel who landed up in the call centre by accident. All in all, I am in an onanistic frenzy :D. Thank you very much VM. Crisis averted.

In case anyone else is phoning up for new deals before the price increase they can give you BT Sports free for 6 months, i have that as part of mine just now.
