Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Been with Virgin well over a year now but my introductory offer (£45 pm) has now ended and I'm paying close to £70.

Can I call up and ask to re-negotiate, not bothered if it means a new contract just wanting to save some money, currently on what was the 'Big Kahuna'
* XL TV
* Phone (weekends)
* 200 GB

thanks

no harm in calling to see what deals they'll offer you tbh

So I had ordered my Vivid 200 upgrade last week, thought it has stated a Superhub 3, but today I received a Superhub 2.

Anyone here getting the Superhub 3 upgrade when they order the vivid 200 upgrade?

I called to see what deal I could get if I renewed, best deal I was offered would save £2 on what i'm currently paying or the price would go up by £5 a month if i don't renew.

I couldn't get a good deal so handed in my cancelation notice.

Not sure if you are still in a contract but if so make sure you check the bill/new contract

I just did similar and got an email yesterday asking me to sign my new contract for broadband and phone and they have charge a £60 TV disconnection fee

So I went from completely disconnected to agreeing to keeping phone and Internet and they sting me for it grrrrrrrrrrr

I am in contract, but they changed the pricing, so it is completely illegal to charge my any disconnection fees, and if they did... jesus would they have fun on the phone.

My final contract... for anyone else going through same pain

100MB Broadband

£28.25 during promotional offers

For 6 months
-£3.00 off my bill

For 18 months
-£6.00 off my bill

After promotional offer (18 month)
£37.25

Additionally, £50.00 credit

So I should be paying

£24.00 a month 0-6
£27.00 a month 7-18

I was on 70MB broadband + TV (M) + phone.

Don't use phone, and no benefit to having TV apart from TIVO... so meh back to SMART TV freeview, where all we use is Netflix and Amazon Video anyway!

Considering they're supposedly due to stop the 152MB service at the end of the year, I'm curious as to what they're going to ovffer anyone who's on it at the time.

The options currently are drop to 100 or upgrade to the 200. I'm sure most people would choose to upgrade, I mean who these days takes a downgrade?

This got me thinking, that seeing as they're forcing my hand by stopping the 152MB service that they should waver the £14.99 "activation fee" if I decide to take the 200 over the 100. I'll ring them next week and see if I'm lucky enough to sepak to someone who would be willing to refund the £14.99 off my first bill. Can, but hope! :)

Has anyone actually upgraded to the 200 and not have to pay the £14.99, or had it refunded?

i can't see how they asking for an activation fee when your already activated. your just changing your package.

I've only ever payed an activation fee once when i first joined ntl/VM 20 years ago. .and I've changed my package so many times

It's what the operator said to me was required for me switching ( #13267 ). They'd ship out a new hub and I'd have pay £14.99 activation fee, but not if I changed my package to the 100MB.

To be honest with you, she didn't fill me with any confidence whilst talking to her. The prices for the packages she was giving me I didn't think were great, so I told her I'd think about it.

Just hope when I call back I end up with someone a bit more savy and flexible with the pricing.

do you have a SH2 or 1?

if you have a SH2 or SH2AC then thats fine for the 200Mb package.

:confused: Possibly I'm still using a SH1. Trying to recall, but I don't think I've ever had it changed via post or a home visit.

I know I need to go to a SH2 or SH2AC, which would be sent out to me if I go an choose to upgrade to the 200MB

It's just the £14.99 "Activation Fee" that I'm opposed to.

I'm on the phone to them now and this is the situation I'm in. Ridiculous.

He said best he could save me was 3 quid.

Considering price is going up then that is cancelled out anyway. I'll go ahead and cancel then panic a little, or simply sign up to a new customer deal under my GFs name.

Ended up with £28 quid for 100mb for 6 month, then £31 for rest.

Guess thats about as good as I could get :(.

Sky broadband woulda been tempting but the prices aint much different.
