Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Ive called back ive been given 2 offers

£32 a month for 100mb broadband only free upgrade to 150mb

or £40 basic tv weekend calls and player tv, both 12 month contacts.

im still not happy, ive left my cancelation in place, does the win back team ever call you ?

i wouldn't bank on them calling you back.

i had a friend who told them that they wanted to leave, just so she was hopping for a call back with better deals but they never did and she didn't really wanted to leave.

I had them ring me after I'd instigated a move that they botched. They offered me 200Mb and a phone line for £27 a month all in.

Not long before I had a moan about their price increases and they were adamant that they couldn't do anything about my price, which at the time was about £35 a month without the phoneline.

There doesn't seem to be much logic about it.

Right, we've had terrible rain and wind today but we're on Fibre and whatever type isn't effected by weather.

Just did a speed test and got around 4mb/s download??

I got around 60/70 the day of installation.

I downloaded a 3GB graphics mod for a game and was reinstalling GTA V.

we're on the 300mb/s line plan if that helps at all I'm not 100% sure what it is.

Throttling at certain downloads, or times or what? It's annoying.

Edit: Just tested again. 26mb/s down, 20mb/s up. another one few minutes later: 34down 20up.

most likely your area as high utilization issue

Currently on the vivid 100 plan with the SH2ac.
According to my online account we should have been upgraded to 150mb plan a year ago, but still nothing.
Also saw a hub 3.0 which was available.
Is the new hub free to current vivid customers or do you have to pay for it?

Virgin settling in period?

I just moved from BT to Virgin. Was installed late on Friday and the guy said there is a settling in period for the broadband. I'm on the 200mb/s package and when I test on speedtest.net speed has been as low as 11mb/s down and once got 118mb/s. Its usually in the 50s, upload is always around 12mb/s. I tried a modem reboot and still the same. Do I just have to wait or is there sommit wrong?

Ta :)

the guy said there is a settling in period for the broadband.

He lied.

When he saw the low speed he knew exactly what the problem was and wanted nothing to do with it, especially last thing on a Friday, not that there would have been anything he could do it about anyway. Network speed levels are way above his pay grade.

You've signed up to an over congested part of the Virgin network, post code lottery I'm afraid, unless you know someone in the same street and check with them first what sort of performance they're getting, there is no way of knowing what the congestion levels are.

You can always cancel the service whilst you are still in this early stage if it shows no sign of improving though as you are obviously not being provided with the service you're paying for, as it will generally take months for them to fix it rather than days or weeks I'm afraid.

Cheers guys, sounds like I may be screwed then LOL. I don't think he tested the speed, he didn't even plug me PC cable or Nas into the hub, he just said heres your wireless key and wait 20 mins for router to do its thing before you use it. Then he went

technically it's not free but you may be able to get one for free and without having to pay the activation fee depending on the person your speaking to

or if u upgrade to 200Mb gamer then it's free but depending on the person your speaking to they may ask for an activation fee

but tbh i would keep with the SH2AC

My bro had to put the cables in as I'm nearly blind and have cerebral palsy, which would have been quite obvious to the guy LOL. Is there anything I should check at my end before I phone them Monday? Cables seem fine as transfer to/from PC/NAS is fine and wireless is ok too. I that Virgin would be better than VT.
