Virgin Media increasing broadband speeds by 20 - 200% starting February

"between October and June 2013"

That's almost TWO years away lol. Amazing business tactics Mr Branson. Just amazing.

I have never understood, why people want such fast upload speeds? I very rarely need to upload data.

I use RDC from work to get into my home server & PC. I also run an FTP server for sharing files. Just two examples of why people would want faster upload. :)

Maths fail 18months at worst, under a year at best.
 Don't you have anything better to do?

October 2013 is 1 year and 9 months away. That's 3 months off two years. I'd say my statement of "almost two years" is perfectly acceptable.

Now go find something better to do rather than whine about something utterly trivial.

Surely though, if it is October to June 2013 then the October is 2012?

He was trying to be helpful, its you having a moan at poor Mr Richard Branson-Bolt. :p

Haha backfired.
Read last few posts. Why even get your nickers in a a twist.

These upgrades are never free.

First they roll out the speed bumps, accompanied by the 'Virgin are awesome' publicity and press hoorah. The following quarter everyone's baseline bills are go up minus any mention to the press.

No?

My price has always remained the same, in fact they gave me a few quid discount back in 2007 and it's stayed the same since even through previous free upgrades.

Exactly and they've also said that 100mb users price will decrease to 50mb price. So as a 50mb customer I expect a discount as well.

Pretty shocking they won't give users decent upload speeds.

I get this, on wireless broadband. So it should be capable :o

It's just the way UK ISPs work, in America that's a different matter as they get much faster upload but here we have a 10:1 ratio for DL/UL.

And that's pretty good still, if 30Mb down and 3Mb up isn't fast enough right now then maybe expectations are too high.

Of course that becomes 6Mb up soon...

Been with them since Blueyonder, about 7/8 years in total.

In that time I've gone from 128k > 512k > 1Mb > 2Mb > 10Mb > 20Mb (Went from 20Mb to 30Mb for £2 less per month, catch was a new 1 year contract.) and now 30Mb > 60Mb.

Virgin Media network constantly receives upgrades, along with these upgrades comes free speed boosts.

They've always been the same.
