Vista Beta 2 Goes Public Today

It won't install for me. Trying to dual boot with xp, and on the 2nd reboot I get an error about winload.exe and it drops me back to the boot selection.
I had that when I was trying to install it on my 2nd hard drive (usb). I then tried on my primary ide hard drive and it installed fine.

Vista & Bitorrent

Hey chaps anyone here know which Bitorrent Client is compatible with Vista ?

Azureus installs ok on Vista but when I try to use it a Window opens up & says the reason why it's not working is that, it's not compatible with Vista.

So if any of you have got one that works plz tell me & post the link here ;)

I installed Vista and had it uninstalled within 20 minutes of use. It seemed increadible slow on my machine with an AMD64 3500+ and 2GB ram.
I'm dual booting Vista with XP Pro x64 Edition and must say that XP is much much faster for me. Also my hard drive seems to go crazy when Vista is running and is always reading or writing something.

I thnk I'll just stick to XP

I'm running a Mobile Athlon 64 4000+ and 2gb ram.

Mine has been doing that too, it seems to be the indexing service running and according to the help file you can't turn it off!

Well sorted my boot problem be going into BIOS and making sure it could see my drives. Seems one wasn't set up, though XP found it fine. Anyways I'm in and loving it so far. Only slight problem is DUmeter doesnt see the DL data, and I can't install intellitype or point. Seems responsive enough etc, running an Opty at FX57 speeds and 1GB RAM.

Now, how do I make these stupid boxes go away every time I try and run/do something?

Just in case anyone wonders where the torrent and download links went, they've been removed. Microsoft requested the torrent was taken down, which the owners complied with.

In the spirit of co-operation, the links to both the torrents and the download mirrors posted in this thread have also been removed, as has in at least one case the mirror itself.

Any subsequent links to unofficial download sites or offers/requests to provide such links will be removed without warning.

Start> run > msconfig > tools tab > disable uap > reboot.

I have installed it and, rather strangely, I rather like it. Microsoft have clearly done a lot of work on making it it intuitive. I am having problems with drivers, it doesn't recognise on board audio, mass storage  and my modem, but with the final release I am sure these things will be ironed out.

Will I be buying it on release? I still doubt it but eventually I suppose I will have to.

Sounds like everyones HDD are going crazy with vista! Mine (36gb raptor) is never idle and is always clunking away.

Even with the computer just sat on the desktop my pc shows up to 75% cpu usage (fluctuating).

Any fixes? Help?

Installed the 64 bit and running fine, but whats the deal with connecting to the internet via wireless  I have a netgear WG111v2, is there absolutely no way this router will work wirelessly with Vista  would the 32bit version of vista recognise my wireless set up?? I dont see why its so hard that microsoft cant include the software and back compat drivers like in XP to pick up wireless set ups,??? Also does this mean that if you buy vista you will have to buy a whole new 64bit compat wireless set up??

looking forward to having a good look around vista but with no internet connection its all a bit pointless :(

I'm lost now. I would like to download this, and whilst MS say they are taking a battering the download manager they provide does not work just keeps saying there is no Network Connection!

Can I use something like Azerus for this, or can anyone recommend to me a free DL manager!?

Thanks

I used the Flashgot plugin for Firefox and just went straight for the direct download link. Worked a treat and speeds were good.

Not entirely sure why but mine idles at around 4%, so maybe I'm the only one. Everything feels nice and snappy considering. If it wasn't for the 360 compat. problem I'd be using it now.

Duno if this has been mentioned already,

The Beta 2 is only a 14 day trial and you cant activate it onlineonline)
It also is a bit buggy in the setup, it formatted my drive then couldnt find the disc ><, after a couple of attempts got it running again.
Its different to say the least, dont know if i like it or dislike it to be honest :)

I also have the same issue as everyone here, my 70Gb raptor seems to be working all the time doing.. er something :P
