VMware Linux bigadv

Having some big stability issues on both rigs since swapping over to VMware.

Lost a few bigadv units - so had to rethink the overclocks.

May take a little time to find a happy medium :(

Sorry to hear that, touch wood my systems seem stable.

I find LinX the best stablity software aside from the Folding itself. Seems odd if they were stable with Windows, but I've seen stranger things.

yeah, but I think I've been pushing the limits trying to hold off Delboy........

Looks like it's not working, but at least it'll be a game of yo-yo's when he does pass me.

And hopefully I can keep him within range until I can manage a few upgrades - curious to see how Bulldozer will perform.....

Trust me, I'm having to pull out all the pc's I can lay my hands on to finish you off!

I've just rebuilt a dual cpu xeon hp at work, so will have to slip vmware on that! :D

lol :)

I may have to go away for work for a couple of weeks at the end of April - which will mean I will have to revert to Windows or have the rig's not on :(

On the plus side - I will pocket over £4000 for the work - which may just make it's way into a new build and some upgrades :D

I have uploaded a new VMware image to my server. I also have an updated native image built but have not had a chance to test that one out yet so that one I'll post up later. The latest image has the export USER set in the init script to allow for startup of Langouste. I was able to successfully submit a work unit using Langouste.

There are a number of other updates that can be found in my changelog here.

A new feature of this image is that the folding system now has the ability to output in JSON format, system usage/health, detailed folding stats, and TPF history for each client. The JSON interface should make it possible to make custom web pages, signatures, etc. off the folding system. Here is a small web report I put together that uses the JSON from my native folding rig and prints up some details and graphs.

Ah well, just putting it in and clicking submit didn't work but setting it to reboot did. Finishes at 19:30 so want to get ready to setup the new version.

Any idea how easy Langouste will be to setup on this new version?

OK - you've lost me......

When using WMware - do you have to set-up Langouste seperatly?

Or is it all automatic? (OMG - I'm a noob again....)

Cause I like Automatic......except for my cars :D

The top bit of my last post was about setting it to oneunit. I've no idea how easy it is to setup Langouste on this new version will be, still 2 hours before my latest WU completes.

From what I can tell - I think Langouste is built into the WMware Image (which is what I'm using) - so all you have to do is enable it from the Client Config Screen........I think........

But if your using standalone Linux - I guess you'll have to set it up manually......

Guess we both are looking for confirmation - come back Biffa.....

Yes its built into the vmware image. You just turn it on, all the faffing about in the first few posts are not needed any more.

If you are rolling your own with Ubuntu then I guess you may need it, but linuxrouter actuallty does a bootable linux disk that is identical to the vmware image which has it all built into the one. If thats what takes your fancy. But then you are building a dedicated Folding Linux rig. Not sure about anyone else but mine tend to do other things as well as folding so I can't use it.
