Vodka

My favourite by a mile is Finlandia though.

Aha I forgot about this stuff. Haven't had any for years, my mate used to bring back a bottle from Norway every now and then - it was usually flavoured, like lime etc. Really nice stuff.

I think Absolut also do decent flavoured vodka, bit easier to get a hold of too.

Good vodka always must be drunk neat.
Not for me though, I hate vodka, even the good stuff, i'd rather have a good poteen if we're going for white spirits, puts serious hairs on your chest.

Don't mind it mixed but i'd rather have a nice whiskey any day.

I brought back 3 bottles from the Ukraine, one very cheap one (about £2), an average priced one (£4) and an expensive one (£7). The average one is bloody delicious, I've given it to friends who claim they can't shot vodka (only had glenns, smirnoff and the like) and they have been converted.

After drinking that stuff, Russian Standard tastes awful :D. You must also bear in mind that there are three different types of Russian Standard - Don't bother if it's not Platinum.

As for what you should drink it with, just sip it out of a glass. Have some snacks with it, olives, antipasti, stuff like that, play a FPS and pretend you're a really life Russian.

Haha I just started drinking it neat in double measures and I have to admit its not entirely flavoursome so I did add some coke to give it a nicer taste, but I fear a backlash on these forums now :P

Where can I find some of these Ukraine, Russian vodkas in the UK or do I have to import them?

Tonight I'm all about my new couch, lights dimmed, NuSound on iTunes, a Biryani on its way and a chilled bottle of Finlandia. Call me easily pleased.

Never seen the vodkas I have in the big shops, it's in a different language anyway. Though, you should have a Polish/Russian speciality shop in your area. They'll sell some pretty authentic ones I imagine. I'll take a picture of the bottle I recommend and maybe you can find it in there.

Though you can't really go wrong with Russian Standard, Finlandia or Grey Goose (though Grey Goose costs a fortune, for no real reason, and it's French).

Finlandia do a 'grapefruit fusion' one now among their others. Won the award for best flavoured vodka at the world awards last year.

It is immensely good. I have converted a few lager mates onto drinking it neat when we can find it. Amazingly, the only supermarket that sells it is Morrisons, but only the bigger stores.

Remember it and find it. Trust me.

If peeps want to get hold of the rarer stuff, I have ordered from http://www.thedrinkshop.com/ numerous times.

There is a Polish store near me actually, and a Russian one but I never considered asking them for Vodka, but now you mention it!

Dont listen to any of these mugs, best possible vodka you can get would be absolutely pure h20, and absolutely pure ethanol, as pure as possible.....

if it has a strong taste its cheap nonsense, or cheap branded nonsense where everyone pretends its nice..

you then leave it in the freezer, and drink it like that, at -20 vodka tastes exactly like water

Now if your taking about cocktails, then its different, but still you would never want vodka to have a proper taste like wisky does!! MADNESS!!!!!

Freezer for 2 hours then shoot it neat.

As Above, Finlandia is the best vodka by a long mile, im having me a few now....:D......on offer in morrisons for £12 a bottle at the mo...bargain price for a top quality vodka trust me..

If i can't get Finlandia then Absolute has to be next......

I no longer drink.
But when I did, I thought vodka was for getting drunk with quickly.
I'm sure that is what most Russians do with it.

Once, at a sad time, I drank quite a lot of vodka with orange juice and it seemed to help.
I mean it's whatever helps it go down is what you mix it with! I was no connoisseur of alcohol of any type though.
