VR for Star Wars Squadrons

It's very confusing how some (like myself) have these issues and others don't. Do we think we are all seeing the same thing and some people don't mind it? The low framerate of the stars and obstacles moving about is extremely offputting to me, but I don't know what others are doing right and I'm doing wrong...

Maybe.. unplug all my other monitors?

The game is fundamentally broken. It doesn't seem to support refresh rates over 60fps (and of course VR needs more than that), the desktop mirror is actually a second rendering of the game, and not just a mirror of your VR game, so the settings in that affect your VR performance, plus the starfield in VR is insanely low resolution, probably because it's designed for PSVR's low resolution displays. :(

So it's not just you :D

Then how are some people saying “hey this is great, loving it?”

Some people will be reprojecting at 45fps (or 60fps on the Index) and think it's ok. Others don't notice these sorts of issues. It was obvious to me that on my Index the game was in constant reprojection, which looks very smeary.

For me it's only really noticeable when you move your head really fast, I mean, it is annoying but the game is still a blast, the bugs have been reported/confirmed and I'm sure they'll get it sorted. It's probably a carry over from the console where they aim for a single render resolution/frame rate.

But yeah reprojection could well be helping mask the problem on vr headsets.

There has been a patch which seems to fix the framerate issue - i have been testing on the index it appears like it is working. Star are still blurry though apparently there is another patch this week also.

Played an hour and a half in VR. Pretty cool. But prefer playing in Pancake mode. The visual improvement playing in 4K outweighs the immersion factor with VR for me. This is on Rift S.
I will probably dip in and out VR mode - I like the toggle function to turn VR on and off from in game settings menu.

Get a better headset, lol

Im the opposite with this sort of thing once I go VR I cant go back. Especially with driving games I find controlling the car in 2D really difficult now as the spacial awareness is just not there.

Get the Supersampling cranked up if he can and it'll be good.

Ah yes forgot about that. I stopped needing it when I got the Rift S. Used to use it on the original Rift. But this game definitely needs it when in VR.

Don't get me wrong - the ability to look out the side windows in my Xwing and Tie Fighter is great. I'll more super sampling and see how it improves.

Squadrons looks awful for me on the Quest 2. Low-res god ray mess. Mashed every setting up, and no difference.

As mentioned above, "pancake mode" looks great.

You probably have your link settings wrong, did you get the v23 update yet?

I have a quest 2 and it looks fantastic once you have your settings correct

I do yes, and it still looks terrible. I've upped the rendering resolution and super sampling, but all the colours are odd in the menus, and in-game everything looks really awful quality. Must be something I'm doing wrong?
