Whereas the VX community is full of ******* (muncher excluded as he seems a decent bloke). When I was looking for a VXT I just found that almost everyone on the forum had a chip on their shoulder and liked to argue about the most pathetic things. To be honest a lot of it sounded like Lotus envy and it was one of the things that put me off buying a VX, I didn't want to be associated with such a bunch of ******

Thats the biggest load of tripe i think ive ever heard come out of your mouth :p

The owners club is like ANY OTHER ! They all have there toss pots regardless of what car the club is based on

lol Lotus envy? The VX is a better car than the Elise. People who buy the VX are people who care about the car and not the badge. It's like someone who buys a Monaro over an M3...

Comparing a VXT to an S2000 too...doesn't a Turbo clock 60 in 4.8 as opposed to over 6 seconds for the S?

0-60 isnt everything but i agree the VXT is the quicker car in every respect but you pay a small price of practicality :p ....

I dont agree with the elise comment, I have had a VXT and would prefer a 111R / Exige any day of the week :)

eidolon, I wouldn't really agree with that. Sure you are always going to get a few plonkers, but every owner's group is like that.

I really don't think there's any badge envy, in fact that kind of thing is not something which gets brought up at all often. Every owner seems to appreciate the Elise/Exige and many on the site have owned both at some point. If anything the sniping comes up in the "which is better , VX or VXT" threads, of which there have been hundreds!

Put a hardtop on the VX and it'll climb to 140 without breaking a sweat.

Wow, a HUNDRED AND FORTY!?!?!? Thats fast, man.

I think the answer to this thread is that if you need to ask, you need the S2000 not the VX220. The VX/Elise is the sort of car where if its right for you, you know this already.

for me I'd take a vx220 turbo over an s2k purely because its easier to fettle with

both are lovely looking cars, vx is a little bit on the raw side, the s2k is a much better looking car but pretty much stumped by its glorious but untuneable engine.

Saw a supercharger kit being sold for 2k, was tempted to get it :P

Supercharger whine on an S2000, mmmmm.

But the VX would gain several meters for every corner. A very small top speed advantage on the straight is not going to be enough to really "beat it".

Really?

Real world, average drivers ahoy etc I'd have to disagree

At Bedford I had a guy in an Elise 111r, which is basically a VX220 come up to me telling me he couldnt keep up with me and was giving it his all when I was there in my S2k.

You have to be bloody special to get the best out of an elise, I'd class myself as just over average and in the S2K i've kept up with some pretty impressive machinery (a 996 C2 with KWv3s and a few other handling mods for one) granted, I know the track, but everyone ive spoken to who I kept up with was gobsmacked I could keep up, said they had been several times and all had mods done to their cars. Clearly something was wrong as they should be quicker, but you have to realise at this end of the market real differences come in driver skill...

I'd sell an S2K as a daily driver elise. If you want to really hone your driving and do loads of driver days, you will eventually become quicker in an elise/exige/vx220 I recon, but the S2k is a brilliant piece of kit.

... Just my 2 pence ...
