**WANT 8GB 2400MHz FOR AS LITTLE AS £59.99 Inc. VAT? - THEN CHECK THIS THREAD OUT!!** (MV-3V4G3D/US)

Thanks Wazza appreciate your help, i'm not a total noob to Ocing (honest :)) but what is bclk

BCLK = FSB, I think I get what your saying, cheers.

So my ram only runs at 1866Mhz even if I set the multiplier to 21 on ram and 42 for the CPU multi. Do I need to set the BCLK higher and lower the multiplier to get the ram to run faster?

Update: Running ram at 1866 CL 9-11-11-28 1.34V (this is automatic by the motheboard). Seems this ram has helped my 4.5GHz temps Now 74c max on core 1, but rest of cores are 61-64 on Prime95 blend at 1.116V althought EasyTune6 reports it at 1.260-1.284 which is wrong...

just to clarify,on newer sb/ib platforms you dont adjust the bclk/fsb,all overclocking is done through the cpu multiplier and ram speed is fixed at certain speeds 1600mhz/1866mhz and so on and you select which speed you want

on older platforms x58/p55 and before those you do all overclocking through the bclk/fsb,this alters the memory speed aswell hence you have to find the right combination to give you the correct or near to speed you want your ram to run at

all you have to do brian is look in spd section and pick 2133mhz ram speed, set dram to 1.55v maybe one/two clicks more qpi/vtt and enter your timings

BiB this definitly applies to me then Wazza ?

yeah, its same for amd systems fsb ect,on intel sb/ib its best to keep bclk at 100mhz and select the fixed ram speed

SPD section? Hm, my gigabyte board has settings for each stick or for general, wonder what other people are using as settings on the UP4 TH etc. I've disabled EIST, turbo etc. Stressing my CPU @4.5GHz now, ram at 1866 because can't work out how to get it higher but 1866 is enough for me I guess just wonder how far the ram will go. 72c on the temps at 1.260v bios (1.248 after drop, 1.236V after vdroop load, could go to extreme load line calibration but no need.). Will ask a question in the UP4/5 thread.

it will be in the m.i.t section/spd system memory multiplier i think, havnt used gigabyte since x58 days

you can pick quick and set timings for all channels or expert and set timings for each channel one by one

It seems to set decent timings on auto, 9-11-11-28 as I don't understand them much I have left them for now, I know the lower it is the faster the ram will respond though. My M.I.T section doesn't let me change anything maybe Gigabyte are still using that CTRL+F1 or some other trick to unlock it lol. Gonna go find out. Thanks Wazza :D

Strange... that is the menu I used before but it wouldn't go over 1866 even if I set at 2133 lol. Seem's to be working now I am not sure why it wasn't. I'm up at 2000Mhz but timings are 9-12-12-30 still 1T, pretty poo really will try to tweak them now once I figure out how fast they go.

Thanks for that link I'll have a read.

Here are my current ram settings. Running 2 x 4gb at 2400mhz @ 1.575v and a i5 3570k

Any AMD guys want to share some settings, I'm not having too much joy, my current settings are,
cpu Bus speed 230X17=3923
Ram 1846

I have lowered the multiplier from 17 up to 13 in .5 increments and upped the bus speed and cpu voltage a tad over 1.4, but I cant get it to boot, I've been playing about with the asus turbo v software a bit and have my current settings saved as a profile.

Sorry for the huge pic, can make smaller if it's against the rules. Saw 8PACK recommend 21 TRAS, seems fine, wonder if I can go lower on any of my timings. Can't seem to get it to boot at 2133 though however at these timings im happy with 2000..:D hope it's stable.

Haha, the spoiler tags are still huge, I'll fix the image size thank you. How comes you guys have SPD for your Samsung ram? Mine displays none...

Thanks.

Spolier tags are fine as they only take up the width your screen will allow without stretching the page.

Large images can stretch the width of the forum page wider than the screen size.

Lowered LB down to 8 and tras to 20 on my previous settings.
2400mhz with V Gene, 3570k @ stock.

Got 8mins 29.842secs in SuperPi, dunno if this is good or bad or if cpu affects score?
