Warhammer Total War Confirmed

I'm put off with the withholding of races to sell as DLC. That annoyed me with Rome 2.

This game going to be smaller on DLCs because there is going to be a trilogy fashioning different places of the world.

And from their roadmap htere is the list of free DLCs

DX12? I didn't now this was going to be a DX12 game!! From day one?

One thing that does annoy me is when games launch and then say oh but your have to wait for us to patch in Dx12 or vulkan support in the future!

I think it's an extremely short time after release. Doom is the same with Vulkan. I am sure that will be with us within the next week. It's a shame they are not released that way at the start but I guess it's due to competition between Nvidia and AMD?

I don't think it should put people off though. You can start to play at DX11 and update when available. It won't effect your game save and you get to capitalise on a free performance boost (for some users, depending on which GPU you have).

I've ended up pre-ordering. Was going to wait and all the reviews will have likely conveniently ignored bugs/etc but... I wasn't really messed around by Rome II on release (maybe 1 crash to desktop in about 100 hrs play). If this is at least a little better.... eh, it'll do.

Cdkeys and the usual 5% brings it down to £29.44 which is about the cheapest atm. I've had my key rather early for a change from them too, got the key about an hr ago and just finished pre-loading.

Very insightful review from RPS : https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/20...otgun/steam+(Rock,+Paper,+Shotgun:+Steam+RSS)

It's clear they've had to make compromises to the strategic layer of the game (I assume given the source material). I imagine this might hurt it's longevity, but clearly it's still a fun game. Not a massive issue given imo the strategic layer of the TW games has always been lacking in comparison to other Turn based games and I have Atilla for a more 'normal' TW experience.

Edit: Having said that some of the comments from other people who have played suggest contradictory opinions on income etc.

I'm slightly concerned at the games size and depth. I haven't looked into it too much but with limited races, the fact that you can't conquer certain races/parts of the map and talk of different chapters being released I'm worried it may not have the longevity of other TW games.
