Warhammer Total War Confirmed

Playing as Dwarves, have mostly destroyed the Orcs (just a few territories to the South left) and united all the Dwarves to the East. Getting a little concerned by Chaos though. They've not reached me yet but they've almost completely destroyed The Empire and Bretonnia.

Well there goes my dwaft campaign was going well until I moved further south now as soon as I attack and win/lose I get attack as soon as that battle has finished the AI runs around freely it seems and can just attack whenever. Going to start an empire campaign next see how I get on with them

I have completed all the Short and Long Victory Objectives now how to i complete my Campaign?

That's it, you've finished!

Finally finished my first go at Vampire Counts, 627 turns! I've only been playing on normal diff so far to get the hang of it as this is my first Total War. I've tried Chaos twice but it seems so hard to get going!

the trick with the southern dwarves is to raze the Orc settlements as you take them. this way the orcs economy will be severely weakened. if you don't do this you won't have enough manpower to keep chasing them down.

when the chaos armies arrive you are then fighting on two fronts, east and west.when chaos take your forts they will most likely raze them and it's downhill from there.

Yeah it finished on the next turn! Dwarfs and Empire done i'm going to give Chaos a go now... its not starting off to well

627!

I should be done in sub 200, out of interest how did it take so long?

My Orc and Dwarf campaigns were both around 200-250 turns, this one just became a slog.

I thought I was done for a couple of times but made a miracle come back, then lots and lots of bribing to make some friends :p I just had a huge struggle early to mid game and had to adjust my play style away from trying to be aggressive.

I think I spent most of the time chasing the damn Varg around the map, so irritating!

Destroyed Chaos, reclaimed all the dwarf ancestral homes. Mighty battles were had, I am victorious!

Oh wait no, I've got to complete one last grudge, get an engineer to level 15. I've had this grudge for about 100 turns but the ****** levels so slowly he's only up to 8. So now I've got to click end turn for several hours while nothing else happens to complete the game.

Stunning CA as always

Doing what though? I had him deployed for ages and he levelled so slowly it wasn't funny. I had him join my lord's army and he barely levelled at all. Actions he has such a low success rate chance that he just fails.

I feel like they really didn't playtest these grudges at all. I had one to assassinate an orc agent....why the **** would dwarves have a grudge to assassinate anyone?!? They suck at it. That took me about 50 turns of chasing an Orc around the badlands who moved faster than me and I had about 18% chance to assassinate. Such dumb game design.

Yeah the grudge system could be more sensible, regarding assination just ignore it, when you defeat the faction that disappears.

Best thing for Engineers is army sabotage, I was looking at 40-50% success dependent on the general and up to level 15 I was getting thereabouts a whole level worth of XP per success, makes it a lot swifter.

Finished my dwarf campaign around turn 248. I had it done in turn 200 then some level
30 sorcerer murdered my level 14 engineer and had to go again from scratch with him :(

Was useful in one instance as it allowed me to complete the quest chain to get extra achieves. After not particularly wanting to play dwarfs I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think I will struggle on other factions as whilst I missed cavalry for chasing down routs I loved the impenetrable dwarf line of steel backed up by mass range. It suits my solid and steady play style I use in most TW games, low risk and play the numbers :p they just refuse to break which I'm worried I'll now be used to when I play less reliable armies

Really can't decide who to go next, decisions decisions!

Overall though, magnificent ******* game, kudos to CA as I had huge doubts about this going in.

I still have a grudge to assassinate members of a faction (Greenskins) that i defeated and wiped out 10 turns ago. It's getting rather annoying now as it's pushing the grudge level to the high enough that it's screwing with public order and diplomacy.

Must be a bug or there must be greenskins (another tribe maybe?) elsewhere as I had the quest on 4 factions (VC, Orcs, Tilea and BP's) and the moment I defeated them it disappeared.

I decided to start a campaign as Orcs, holy **** they are fun! Totally different from Dwarfs and you will get spanked unless you heavily out number them but once you get going  my lord Grimgor on turn 40 is already level 17, I've reduced the dwarfs to 1 city already and I'm just hurtling around with Grimgor fighting anything and getting Waaghs behind me all the time.

My army is just basic Boys, with the Blavk Orc and Boar Boy unit you start with and I haven't lost a battle. Beat the dwarf King 3 times, Ungrim turned up and beat him twice I'm going to do a lap of honour and mop up the southern badlands pretty swiftly (is my thinking anyway :p) then turn north all guns blazing.

Great faction!!

What difficulty levels are you playing on?

personally I struggled with Orks when fighting dwarfs, somehow they would end up with a couple stacks and a high level hero before I have anything I can fight with..

so I ended up making friends with the dwarfs and I took some lands, then confederated with the other ork factions

at this point I was ready to enact revenge.. and so I did!

chaos did turn up but retreated from the west, last I saw of them so I can only assume other AI beaten them

Yeah they are a good counter to Orcs and I've actually lost 3 battles to them with my armies when not led by Grimgor. I've found you need the leadership buff from your Lord to help hold the line and decent cavalry (basically boat boyz) or their line of steel mauls you. The morale of greenskins is a nightmare I find I need to finish battles fast as the longer they go on the more my morale gets flaky, that and I have no goblins near my army as they are a blinking liability!
