Warhammer Total War Confirmed

Only way to kill off a Waagh when it gets going is to defeat them in battle which kills their morale and gets them to desert. As you mentioned the trick is keeping pressure on them to stop them going Waagh in the first place. You need to stop them getting easy victories and raiding so build up town walls so there are no easy raids.

Ultimately though once they are live you just need to fight them, just go for the steel line/crossbow tactic and just hold with veterans/Lomgbeards whilst you rain crossbow related death on them. Their morale is so **** concentrated fire breaks them so quickly and if you have a lord strong enough to counter theirs you should easily win.

I had 1k vs 4.2k (ish) once and won killing around 3.5k of them and losing only a few hundred through the above tactic. Iron breakers or miners with charges are devastating on Orcs as well.

Thanks, starting to dominate now, only 3 more Ork settlements left. However, Arachon has just appeared at turn 131 and I cannot end my turn at all. I'm unsure whether this is because I didn't meet some conditions, I've not met either the short or long victory. When I played as the Empire I hadn't met the conditions (I don't think) but was able to continue. Anyone know what's going on here?

Just played several hours doing the opposite. Build up two huge armies asap and go on a southern rampage.

The greenskins just hit every town you take and retreat exactly ONE square too far for you to attack them.

They're impossible to chase as dwarf, and if you turtle they build up too much speed against the AI towns.

Its ok though, just focus on the orc settlements and raze them rather than sack or take them over. you can return later in the game to re-settle them.

dont chase the orc armies around the map, its fruitless.

Compared to buying the figures £10 a race is cheap. Keep them coming!

Don't like the price? Wait till its discounted.

It's DLC that adds massively to the game and are essentially mini expansion packs.

As Dwarves, what's the best way to defeat a an Orc Waaagh?

Just defeat them/try to wipe them out a couple of times in quick succession and that damps them down. I did this in my home area so I was backed up by town garrisons.
Then go around the map razing their settlements. Towards the end of the short campaign you can then go around and occupy all those settlements (some carefully chosen ones before then, not least so you can heal). If Orcs regain a settlement then you'll get a gold bonus for getting it back because it will be counted as a settled grudge.
Also do your best to get Mount Gunbad as soon as you can. It never seems to get attacked and it will really help with your economy so you can raise more units.

There's an expert TW Warhammer player on Twitch called Elich666 . He recently did a Dwarf campaign and watching that taught me how to win. It should still be in his past broadcasts.

What a load of ****.

This is not the tabletop, it's a PC game. Charging a third of the price of the basegame (the DLC is almost £15, not £10) is outrageous for a DLC which is short on content. If this is anything to go by then the final game will cost potentially hundreds.

It is shameless milking of the loyal userbase, nothing more nothing less.

I'm refusing to pay that amount for it anyway, I'm quite happy to miss out and wait until next xmas and get it all in a bundle for a reasonable price. I did the same with Rome 2 and that worked out alright.

Not sure on the blood dlc, I though it made a difference to shogun 2 and was worth it but when I bought it for Rome 2 it refused to work and I couldn't get my money back.

DLC was £10 if you preordered from GMG. Not my fault if you chose not to pre-order it and get it cheaper.

The content is essentially the rules, re-skins/amendments etc. This will take time for any faction. The way I see it the base content/game is cheap at £35 considering it included 4 races. Each expansion/race is a quarter of that, so I can accept that.

It isn't like things are missing to the base game - that is essentially complete as a game - these are bits that add to that experience.

Think it's bad pricing then don't buy it and wait until sales.

I think the pricing is bad so i'l just wait until Xmas sale, still have empire/VC to play through and a tonne of other games so nothing's suffering.

As the Dwarves I've been going around occupying all of the Ork settlements. It's a pain in the arse to maintain public order sometimes but I'm curious why more folks are advocating razing settlements. Am I missing something?

I see that rational and logical arguments are something that you leave to other people to worry about.
