Warhammer: Vermintide

They've not really explained the interface too well, but it is a little more advanced than it first appears.

if you press 'L' in the inn it opens up a server browser where you can choose map, difficulty and server location and it'll tell you whether they're already in game or still in the inn.

Thanks for that!

Really like the game but I get terrible fps with my i5 2500k and 7970. Really stuttery when there's a lot of ai on the screen, almost unplayable. :(

I assume running low settings? if you have a second monitor leave task manager up could give you an idea if your cpu is maxing out (cpu usage XX% at the bottom) or click on the performance tab.

How far off are you from the minimum req?

I've found that while the 'good' Warhammer fans are really helpful and patient the rest (majority) combine to make one of the most toxic communities you could ever encounter*.

Plus its half term in the UK so all the kids are off.

*for GW based computer games, I have little exposure to the tabletop community.

The tabletop games (from my limited experience) have some great players who are there for fun and enjoy it more when everyone has fun, then you get the "by the letter of the rule book regardless of if it makes sense"* players, and the idiots.

I've not played much vermintide, as my computer blew up after a few evenings of games, but it's a fun game and as a Skaven/Empire player I love it :)
It definitely helps that I play with a trio of friends who are warhammer/40k players.

*The sort of people who will take a poorly worded rule and use it to the maximum advantage at the expense of the game.

Brilliant! Thanks for the tip.

Ok, did some reading.

It seems it's not finished by a long stretch. A lot of issues still present even after an extensive beta? So yea, not a great start, especially when the fixes are promised in DLC... Alarm bells.

Boring levels and rewards are unbalanced? So shorter easier levels give the same, if not better loot than the longer harder ones? No custom skills for classes and apparently it's a full on grind fest or picking up barrels?

And the biggest flag so far is the community. It seems that if I go into the game, play and mention I've got no idea about the map layout/lore of the game, you'll be kicked.

A lot of reports for a very harsh community FULL of fanboys.

I'll hold off on buying this.

i have been playing on hard difficulty for the most part

but i have ran a lot of normals if im not playing with my buddies, and usually i tend to help people as much as i can..

my experience in pugs has not been too bad too be honest..

we did have 1 random in our group which we got a little shirty with, he was trying to kill everything and would fall behind constantly dispite many many many times asking him to keep up lol

During the preorder beta and up to today, i have not experienced any of this.

The levels are not boring, the leveling system gives you items per level. Every item in this game has purpose as it can be either salvaged or fused with other items combined. each class will have unique item(s) which can be used differently, that is the customer/unique part of the game.

in regards to not knowing the map layout/lore of the game and getting kicked. that is just pure bullcrap. there are tiered difficulty levels for a reason, if a new player with no clue jumps into a nightmare difficulty game then you are going to expect someone being annoyed at you. If you are new start on easy or normal and learn the game.

Once again people who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about or how to review are deterring people like you and others away from a very good game which is a shame. the game is brilliant, the community is great also, i would recommend reconsidering mate or alternatively spend some time watching some streams of the game to get a better feel other that retarded reviews.

discord also have a community which is there to help everyone no matter the difficulty of the map.

Cool, thanks for your reply mate. I'm on the fence. I've got enough on my plate, but it reminds me of Dark Messiah (loved the combat), Left 4 Dead and the good old lore of Warhammer all in one.

I just don't want to sink £20 into a game, play it for an hour because there are problems and forget about it.

Oh, how does it run on your 980 ti? I've got one and read there can be performance issues... I highly doubt there are any for cards like ours right?

Oh you have a 980ti? I thought you were still waiting in a queue :D

It runs brilliantly on a 980ti, I'm on 1440p and have everything cranked up to extreme settings as it's not the most graphically demanding game.

£13.68 on g2a at the moment i think mate

Yeah i understand, it remind me a lot like L4D to be fair, but a lore more melee driven, plus the lore is a winner also.

I believe you could still use the Steam refund for up to 2 hours worth of gameplay? so if you literally wanted an hour or so worth of seeing it for youself you could do it free of charge.

I personally haven't seen any issues with my 980ti playing this. Graphics are great and no tweaking was needed on my part either.

just tried a few games with randoms instead of friends and is everyone totally stupid on random games?

they all run off and do their own thing and wonder why they all die?

Refund ticked submitted.

While playing Steam loses connection occasionally. When this happens all my progress is lost and I have to start the mission again. Because of this I can't even get past the prologue.

Happened twice tonight and I can't be bothered trying to play through that, shame as I was enjoying it.

Yep all on low. Not at home atm but I'll try and report back next time I can play with usage etc. Not sure what the minimum reqs are but like I said I have an i5 2500k, 7970, 4gb ram and I'm playing at 1080p 144hz. Might be worth switching my monitor to 60hz to see if the stuttering is less apparent.

Sticking particles to low seems to limit the FPS drops....

Loving this so far. Completed the magus tower last night for the first time, really nice helpful chap took the rest of the team through it.

Plays really well on my 2500 and 780ti at high.

Looking forward to putting more time in to it. I do wish the rewards etc had more explanation to them, its like its missing a tutorial (unless I missed it!).
