Watch Dogs - Ubisoft's Third Person Shooter

Played a bit. Impressions:

-Car handling is woeful, and the engine sounds worse, especially on bikes.
-Ubisoft seem to have learned a lesson in terms of gameplay with regards to 'killed by game'...tried sneaking, failed and foughtmy way out. Had to tail someone, failed and the game continued, none of their normal can not fail nonsense.
-Looks pretty good, nothing special but ok.
-I can't max it, but can get close with a good steady framerate. That is with a FX8350 and a 7950. Most settings on Ultra with the medium AO and something like 'temporal AA' or whatever.
-One ctd, and a fair bit of glitching in cutscenes, and in fact for the first 15 minutes of the game it was quite unstable.
- I was expecting a few more options in terms of graphics and UI tbh.

So far it seems ok, not great, but ok.

Cant log into Uplay now so I guess the servers are over loaded.

Performance seems good for me so far when I can get in to play it that is lol with fps mostly 100 plus and lowest ive seen is around 60 fps using ultra settings with sli 780s just get the odd pause no and again but mostly its slick.

what kind of AA are u using?

Performance is still odd for me, however, I have fallen in love with the game, or more accurately, the game is okay, but Spidertank is brilliant :p

If they'd made an entire game out of Spidertank it would have been better.

I think dreary weather suits this game more than sunny days, some times of day in the cycle look quite good like early morning, evening, night, foggy or windy and raining. But sunny doesnt look as good to me nor suit the gameworld, even the fact that Aiden walks about in a long coat and jumper implies that its cold and gloomy but sunny days gives the feeling of warmth and happiness which dosent suit the games theme imo.

The game is running pretty smooth on my 270x at 1080p high settings since I installed these new 14.6 beta drivers, I highly reccomend them if you want a performance fix.

Alright, two guys with shotguns in a convoy that I have to "knock down", yet I'm not allowed to kill them so I have to get into melee range. Its on a time limit and I got owned as soon as I approach. How the **** is that even possible?!

Is this the one with a trail and lead car with one guy in each you have to knock down, but like 4-5 other cars with 2 guys a piece with weapons?

If so, it was a nightmare and luck that I finally finished it, you can go to menu and quit the mission and just not do it though.

It's SO badly done, on like 5 attempts the guys ended up getting killed when their own guys threw nades which ended up blowing up cars those guys were stood next to. Most frustrating missions I've done yet.

On a few attempts I had one guy down, only 1-2 guys left to kill before I could run and knock down the other one, then I'd get some car flying into the back of me or randomly showing up enemies from behind who would start shooting.

It was more like 30 fps when you were driving and even then that was a pretty slow speed. It dropped to around 25 at one point :p

did not notice the FPS in tunnel, done it again for you driving as fast as i can while trying to film on my phone lol

a sudden drop in FPS on that part don't mean i don't get average of 45 to 60fps anyways rite?

i had messed with the settings and closed the game to start fraps on the last clip that could explain the drop in fps

Thats the one! I had a similar terrible mission before it in a gangs hideout where I had to take one of them out, but it never said which one... Took like 20 tries to figure out the one I had to actually take down after a silly amount of trial and error.

Yeah not bad at all. Have to use a game pad for the driving parts but still prefer mouse and keyboard for on foot
Got it for 22 quid

I agree. The game looks great in rain or just overcast, or evenings, but when it is sunny I think the game actually looks very poor tbh. weirdly, this is not the first Ubi game I have thought this about, as Far Cry 3 was the same imo...mornings and evenings were incredible, in the sun it was a bit meh.

Talking about the gameplay for a second, I am just pleased that Ubisoft have finally created a game where they actually let you play the game!
