Water hammer problems.

Had this earlier this year. Changed the ball valve in the cold water tank and no more knocking.

We had this - it' truly a major annoyance. Turned out the valve in the cistern needed changing. (twice ... ) It's one of those needle valves rather than the traditional ball-****.

is this when water pretty much explodes out of you tap? :p

That's air escaping out of the pipe, hammer is when you hear (multiple) bangs in the pipes when you close a tap suddenly.. In summary its caused by pressure waves travelling up/down the pipe.

I had this problem, solved it by adding an air filled dead-end, the pressure wave compresses the air when you close the tap suddenly, stopping the hammering.

Sometimes it's better to have user interaction and discussion. It can lead to faster more tailored results, not to mention being more pleasant and entertaining.

I do google everything and I didn't mean anything by it.
Have to agree about interaction and discussion, helps understanding.
Anyway, bit off topic.
Any thoughts on the solution?
