Wayne Rooney banned for three England Euro 2012 matches

Threw his toys out of the pram?

He was asked his view on the decision and he gave it. It's a perfectly fair view too. Had Rooney been sent off for the same offense for Utd he'd have been banned for 3 games. The FA's view is any violent conduct is worth a 3 game ban so how can they then appeal this decision?

When Ferdinand was given a 3 game ban for an elbow the other season, it was no more or less violent than what Rooney done. Utd appealed the decision and the outcome was? The ban was increased to 4 games.

Hardly throwing his toys out of the pram, is he?

Give over. You made a silly post based on probably just reading a headline.

No, I read everything. I'm not saying he's being entirely unreasonable but he's not English, if it was something that favoured him/his country I don't think he would have said it.

I mean honestly, what does he expect the FA to do?! They're bound to try and get it lifted/reduced, it's entirely fair enough.

I knew you'd leap to his defence though, hence the teasing part. Sorry :p

You don't understand the problem with the FA banning players for 3 games for violent conduct (and actually increasing bans when people appeal the decision) but then appealing a UEFA decision when it suits them?

I'm not defending Dalglish, I'm agreeing with him

I do, but it's no secret that the FA are a bit odd.

So it's not "entirely fair enough" then :)

I even used an example of Utd being hard done by and you still found something to complain about :p

It's going to be interesting to see what happens the next time a player is sent off for a kick out or similarly minor violent action in the league now.
Now only 1 game.

You mean 2 games?

I would rather we hadn't bothered appealing and then we could focus on playing without him and given another player a chance to go with the squad, as good as he can be occasionally in recent memory he has not performed well enough for England to carry him along for the ride. I don't expect we'll get much further than the group stage anyway and even if we did it wouldn't be right to suddenly dump a striker to make way for him.

I imagine the FA will just do as they please, it's not like anyone controls them.

tbh reading this thread I am not supprised that England do bad in competitions.

Press **** them off
Fans **** them off
England get a good win then everyone expects them to be champions

One of the players step out of line they become most hated. Come on we are English and supposed to be hard *(&^%*(. 40 years ago people would have laughed at Rooneys tackle. Instead of slagging off the England players maybe get behind them and support them. Fan support can win matches alone.

its a good outcome for England, Rooney may not be netting many this season but compared to other english strikers he's streets ahead.

And despite not having the rest time, we still comfortably beat you :p

We gave you the chance to play for something. It was just a warm-up game for us. :p:D

Now with Rooney playing in that last game we have a chance of qualifying for the knockout phase.

Eugh, wish we'de just left this well alone. "Please don't ban him for 3 matches, we're useless without him!! sob sob whimper whimper". Pathetic. Dread to think of the amount of money we've spent getting him back a whole game early.

Wahey, rooney can play vs ukraine!

Gonna be worth it when we get stuffed by France and Sweden before it.

The wins over spain and sweden recently weren't exactly convincing.
