Weekend Football 15th-16th Jan

Correction - Nobody made the effort to get onto Bale's crosses. One of the negatives from playing Crouch as the only striker.

He was invisible at Old Trafford too.

No doubt he is a top quality player but we do like to hype a young Uk player up who shows some talent.

Just back from the match.

Ferdinand and Vidic were magnificent. They're easily the best CB pairing in the country. The rest of Man Utd's team were dreadful though. It shocks me how Carrick is compared to his Spurs day.

I thought Spurs generally played well but the final ball was lacking. VdV was poor and didn't manage a single decent free kick or corner all game.

Vidic was my MOTM with BAE being Spurs' best player.

Agree with Tunney, although I did watch it from home.

Carrick was rubbish, BUT he did track back well and possibly save a couple of chances from going in. Still crap but fair play to him for that.

Yeah, ruddy Crouch, he should have run up into Row Z to get to a couple of Bale's crosses, lazy git.

:p

Bale was pretty pointless, a couple good crosses, a lot more woeful ones and one just shockingly bad cross.

I just can't see how they are getting results, they play that badly, and the team is getting worse with Scholes out and Park away, but they still get results.

Very disappointed with Rooney today, especially when he was moved wide, showed no desire whatsoever

Rafael was extremely unlucky to get sent off, no doubt the pundits will harp on about it for months saying how he struggled against Bale and his defending isn't good enough  For me he rivalled Vidic for MOTM

would have taken a draw before the game so no damage done, still unbeaten, still top of the league

The Police incident that was being talked about over the PA system at Anfield was because a group of 5 Everton fans got jumped by ~30 Kopites. Rumoured that 2 had been stabbed but another has come out that one lad is in hospital in a critical condition with a fractured jaw and head injury! ****ing disgrace!

You shouldn't spread bs rumours. The police have confirmed that the incident in question was a small fight in a bar and there has been no injuries or arrests.

Agree 100%. Had 606 on and some guy was moaning that Rafael is not good enough and is going to cost us the title. I had to switch it off, he has been one of our best players this year and I am confident he will fill that right back spot for years to come. Our defence is one of the best in the world and has been for the past 5 years. We just need to make sure we buy the right keeper and don't screw around with low cost ones.

How on earth was the first yellow harsh?

On another day he could have been sent off. Just because it wasn't 2 footed, it doesn't mean that it's not dangerous. He jumped in off the ground with his studs showing; certain yellow and borderline red.

Utter rubbish, I can understand why it was a yellow (not saying I agree with it) but it was never a red in a million years

The second yellow was a culmination of several bad challenges after his first booking. He was let off on more than one occassion. And running towards someone whilst raising your hands /= trying to get out of the way.

More rubbish, name these bad challenges other than his first booking (which FYI he took the ball)

Add me to that list of appreciators. Rafael has made the right back slot his own by a country mile. Can't wait to see the player he becomes in the future. Probably won't be at United in a few years in all likely-hood though.

I haven't seen any replays but Rafael's first challenge looked like a red card to me and you could tell from his body language that he thought it was a red card too. Two footed, studs up equals red. Whether the players gets the ball or not is moot. A dangerous tackle is a dangerous tackle under the current rules of the game.
