Weekend Football *Spoilers* inc Carling Cup Final 28/2 - 1/3

Pathetic! I know we've a few player out at the moment but we should still have doen much much better!

Awaits Wenger's press conference!!

To be fair arsenal's team was pretty bare before the start of the season.

With Eduardo, Rosicky, Walcott, Fabregas and even Ade back i think they would be scoring more.

Take 5 players who would start from any team and you will be struggling attacking wise if you have a thin squad from the start.

.... but Benitez has a higher win percentage than Fergie did after 5 years in charge so it's not all bad(

Fergie had the title by then Im sure - so win ratio doesnt really come near it lol (after all it in itself doesnt count for much)

Its not the losing that matters as much as all the draws (yet the win ratio as a whole would reflect better on fewer losses)

After all this is only the 2nd loss for Liverpool this season (in the EPL) yet even with a win today, you would be 4 points behind Man Utd

I don't know why Liverpool fans still continue to compare Rafa to Ferguson in the first bunch of years in charge of their respective clubs. Different era. But if it makes Liverpool fans feel better that it took Ferguson 7 years to win the league then go right ahead.

I agree, it was easier back then.

Well you've contradicted yourself, RVP's a certain starter, without question, so you can't have Eduardo and Ade, so thats only 4 players missing. Arshavin, 15million squid , and Nasri 13mil, are clearly first team material, both better than Walcott, Rosicky might play better but neither of those are certain starters either tbh, which leaves Ade, who doesn't remotely deserve to start and has played most of the season and been utter turd, we've actually been better since he was injured, shockingly.

Basically leaving Fabregas who would be a huge loss to any team in the world, however, if we can't cope with only one real injury, we deserve to be where we are.

Didnt join until november -so a little harsh to include the first season imo (after having no effect on the first 1/3 of the season ) :D

Looks like my mental arithatic was out earlier lol , thought it was in his 5th full season:)

No, Ferguson became manager in 1986, and it didnt lift the title until 1993, 7 years after his reign began (and 26 years after Utd last won the title)

I wasnt really comparing the two in terms of time to win the title, I was merely pointing out that its not the best idea to say that Benitez will never win the league as people said the same thing about Ferguson, yet he did.

I agree you can never say never, but I really don't see Benitez having such a long reign at Liverpool unfortunately. With club ownership and fan expectations being so high, managers are under more pressure than previous generations. Ferguson's retirement will signal the end of such reigns. I hope I'm wrong though.
