Weekend Football Thread - 15/8 to 17/8 *spoilers*

Interesting opening weekend. Pounded by Arsenal, nothing new there. Lescott and co leaving massive holes. I keep saying take the money moyes, he really is not that good.

I'd be happy with 8th anything higher is a bonus.

Thought Wigan played well, surprised me with the football. See if they can keep it up, despite a depleted team they have a decent manager.

Shame for Hull they couldn't nick a point. Chelsea will be hard to beat this year.

Manu on paper don't look much these days. When I looked at that starting 11 it looks pretty weak compared to past years but you know they will play well as a unit to get past those short comings until some class players are added.

I fancied Spurs to win but I thought they played some excellent football as well. Enjoyed the game and some of the touches.

The way I see it is simple, if the defender is going for the ball and fighting shoulder to shoulder, then it's fair, the stronger man wins. When the defender makes NO attempt to go for the ball and just smashes into the player then it's a foul, every time. The ball is the most important thing. This isn't rugby after all!

Perfect example of how to sort this out.

Community Sheild, Ballacks block on evra. ball wasnt even anywere near either player, you cant liken the tackle ekotto made on voronin to that which it sounds like some people are.

The ball was a few yards ahead of both players, they were both going for it at an angle at some point its obvious that if they are both commited they will come to a point where they come together and they did and voronin went down like the titanic.

Good refereeing at that point, some of the other decisions though.... :(

Babel is **** and I'm totally sick of seeing him on the pitch in the first team. He's got nothing in his game other than fast legs and a powerful shot, its nil points for every other footballing attribute. He cannot play in our team, its that simple, and Benitez needs to stop being a stubborn **** and play someone whose got a brain instead.

Said this weeks ago on here and shot down in flames for it.

I'm sorry, but what team in their right mind would 'let' another team score a goal because of a referees mistake. It's just nonsensical! Bristol wanted/needed the points just as much as Palace.

It has happened before.

In fact, when one of our lads got injured against the top of the league, they were trying to give the ball back to our keeper and he misread the flight of the ball. it bounced just outside the area and went in.

The ref couldn't do anything about it so they let us go up the other end and score unmolested. Then we got back on with the game.

Think we still lost, but at the time it was 1-1.

Reminds me of this,

Think its time to Fifa and the FA to sit down and think about looking at goal line replays. That was 4 years ago and its still happening.
