Weekend Football Thread 23-26 *spoilers*

We'll agree to disagree about the Carra incident. As for Vidic's first yellow, I'd imagine it was a result of several previous fouls, 2 of which were worthy of yellows in their own right.

Come to think of it, Vidic could have been given a straight red for his 2nd. Kuyt was clean through on goal and seemingly nobody within 15 yards of him. I guess the distance between him and the goal saved Vidic from that though.

You are too polite Baz, just tell the horrible scruffy rats to choke on everything about todays game!

You really do make it sound like Owen was in no mans land lol

Owen was rugby tackled on the edge of the area, had the tackle not come in he'd of turned and shot. Johnson was nowhere and in no position to be affecting play.

Carra was either last man and / or denying a goal scoring opportunity. T'was a red :p

Who cares, Liverpool were better over 90 mins + poor standard of officiating.

I've not said it wasn't a red. Owen didn't have the ball under control so he could not have just turned and shot like you say.

The ball was played over the top, Owen was running onto it (away from goal) and Carra's pulled him down. Carra was the last man, but the rule doesn't specify that. It's whether he denied a clear and obvious goalscoring opportunity. The fact that Owen wasn't running straight through at Reina and Johnson was within 5-10 yards made it open to debate.

I believe it was because in the replay, it was more of a case of Kuyt turning into Vidic rather than Vidic rugby tackling him. It was a foul yes and a yellow but Vidic didn't even have chance to get out of the way?

And I don't see how Vidic could be booked in the first instance for something that he didn't do - if it was for persistent fouling then he should have been punished for an actual foul (although I think a lot of what you "claim" to be fouls were actually Torres throwing himself around).

And i've still seen nothing to make me change my mind that the ref won you that game. If he had stamped down on the simulation and persistent fouling in the centre of the park, Liverpool would have not been able to enjoy the lion's share of the possession, which allowed them to drive forward and eventually score.

I seriously think you're talking about a different incident Baz :p

At least you've not been mean to me so far :)

Owen would have had a shot on goal had Carra not rugby tackled him, Johnson was nowhere. That was denying a goal scoring opportunity, he was the last man.

The ref just got it wrong, would it some how of affected the end result? Probably not. Liverpool got away with a lot, not down to bias, just the Ref having a poor game.

Does gallas not like diaby? didn't seem to want to celebrate with him but enjoyed celebrating with everyone else lol

:D

Can't blame him, Diaby is the single reason most teams will have a chance to beat us.

Jesus ***** ******* christ! Some football fans are just never happy, I'd take any of the Arsenal first 15/16 at Wednesday.

Diaby isn't a bad player.

At least 1 of the 2 fouls on Torres on the half way line, Vidic knew exactly what he was doing. Like the Kuyt challenge that saw him sent off, he knew Torres was turning away from him and made sure that wasn't going to happen. And those weren't occasions where Torres dropped to the ground under any challenge (which he did do, similarly to Berbatov I should add). He also tried to take out Reina to stop him starting a counter attack which usually is a yellow card by itself.

@Tummy: we'll wait to see it again on Motd and hopefully this time you manage to see Johnson running inside Carra around about the point just after Owen goes down.

haha i love reading man united supporters comments after a match, can never just accept the fact they lost, always has to be 100 questions and 100 excuses :D
That's a bit unfair. Plenty of United supporters have been very gracious in defeat. Just a few supporters who would rather look for excuses and blame the ref rather than their own teams poor performance.

Please do take him, or convince your manager to talk to ours and pay good money for him as he's been with the club for a few seasons now and the progress he's made is minimal. Only playing due to Nasri and Rosicky injuries and Arsene to afraid to let Ramsey or Wilshere play full games, they would both do better than him

We have no money my friend ;)

Diaby isn't bad, please don't blame him for everything bad about Arsenal. He's a good player, he's slowly improved and he's scored some important goals for (and against :p) you.

Rosicky isn't injured now is he?

I don't think thats an exclusive MU trait by any stretch :p
And to be fair, there was a lot to moan about today, the ref was terrible.
But as I said before, Liverpool deserved the win ;)

oh true, and other teams supporters do it as well obviously but my main point being there are more man utd supporters that do it than others, and they seem to have a longer list of excuses, should have worded it better but i was too busy laughing :p

I'd rather give Ramsey starts and Wilshere sub appearances, instead of letting Diarrhea ruin both of their developments.

No, he isn't bad, but he's reminding me more and more of Senderos. A player that should in essence be good, but they have that awful combination of bad luck and clumsiness and just never seem to get rid of it.

Rosicky out with knee injury, you're thinking of Nasri who is back, kinda, he player reserve game this week past but still not match fit

We didn't get anything from the referee but with that performance we didn't deserve anything.

Carragher should have gone, I didn't think Mascherano deserved to.

We didn't turn up and Liverpool played like their lives depended on it.

Other than the Valencia shot from a tight angel, you never looked like scoring. Ourselves on the other hand had plenty of opportunities throughout the game. And surely the fact that we were **** in front of goal and still scored twice suggest that 2-0 may have been generous to you?

No because the second goal should have been after you had at least two sent off (and they should have gone before Vidic went off)

Either Carragher goes off or Owen at the very least tests Reina

Plus Giggs penalty in the first half

ohhhh and also just because you won today - you are still more than likely going to lose the league.....if anything 'pool supporters should have been wisahing for a beating so the issues get sorted sooner rather than later - or do you want another few years of mediocre Rafa purchases?:D
