Weekend Football Thread. 7-9 *spoilers*

Yeah, apart from the major decisions like the penalty/freekick, it was little ones really that made the game interesting. The two head injuries where he played on, the offside on Rooney and a few other decisions that stopped the momentum. Enjoyable last 30 mins though, as always!

read the post you quote before replying ;)

:( Shame.
I thought we played pretty well but I guess we lacked a bit of composure in the final third.
I would have liked to have seen Giggs off for Owen at half time - Giggs had an anonymous / poor match and with both teams having success on the flanks, our left side was a bit of a wasted opportunity. Rooney would have protected Evra better and also caused them more problems.
Still, a much better effort than versus Liverpool, Obertan had a nice cameo and there's still a long time to go :p

What was Drogba doing trying to jump into Evans and then going down dead and having a fit? :S

 I think we must have been watching a completely different game.

Evans' foot was about chest height! How is that not shockingly dangerous play??? But it was Drogba's fault for jumping into him...

edit: I meant evans not fletcher.

I agreed..and just expanded a little?

ok sounded like you where picking up on things I hadnt mentioned

It wasnt Fletcher to start with lol and secondly Evans was already 3 foot in the air before "The Big Girl's Blouse" ran onto his foot

To be honest, it was dangerous, but Evans was already in the air when Drogba decided to go for it. He was more going for the sort of foul you see every game, knock over the guy in the air to force a mistake, just ended up getting the worst end of it!

Who's JamesU2005? never seen him in the sports sub before.

I'm staying in Sheffield until Wednesday ;)

Sorry Sir, I will sign the class register before I post from now on. ;) :p

Are you blind? Or at the very least partially blind?

Serious question by the way, can only assume you are visually impaired if you can't see Fletcher getting the ball.

I already admitted he got the ball, but the rest of the challenge warranted a free-kick in my view.

Can I not have an opinion unless it is in favour of United? Sorry for having a view and not sticking my head in the sand.

How boring would this place be if we all bowed down and agreed with everything. :D

I think we might of been if you saw Fletcher kick Drogba?

Evans jumped for a ball and Drogba ran into him / tried to head the ball, imo Drogba had no chance of winning the ball and had he not collided with Evans foot he'd have probably given away a free kick.

Infact he was booked for the challenge on Evans lol

I don't think it was anything near a foul, Cole jumped up over Fletcher when he won the ball, which made it look like he steamrolled him, which he didn't.

I'm happy to admit I'm a serial thread reader than poster, just look at my forum stats. ;)

But can I not be happy my team has won and have a view on the game?

It's not trolling if I have an opinion.

Perhaps if I posted pictures of the goal, celebration etc, but I was just voicing my view, its what a forum is all about.

If the ref was fair then it wouldnt matter - but blatantly every decision went with the home side

Several times the Chelsea defence got away with murder, yet as soon as any debatable decision SHOULD have gone Utd's way it went with the defence

Well it seems that man united supporters have that same excuse every single time they lose a match, as someone spectating from a completely unbiased view (i hate man united and chelsea equally as much :D) everything the ref did seemed fine, every one of the man united and chelsea supporters will disagree with that though obviously.

There are the odd bits you have to watch twice or more to get a 100% opinion on them, and you have to remember a ref doesn't get to see them twice, from what the ref could see he did his job and he did it well.

While people say "such and such should have been sent off" if the ref isn't certain about his decision he won't commit himself to something as drastic and match changing as a sending off, somtimes it's better to let the game go on and just give them a ticking off.

Sorry, master.

The sort of small minded reply i would expect from someone that can't accept the fact that his football team isn't top of the table for a change. Let it go, accept the loss, and grow up.

How is he supposed to jump without his feet being in the air...

I thought it was harsh to book him, but Drogba ran into Evans who was heading the ball, it wasn't dangerous play at all.

Is it my imagination or are Utd strikers given less leniancy than any other Premiership team

Every other decision goes with the Striker if its marginal - as soon as its someone in a Utd shirt it goes with the defence, its really atrocious sometimes

Sorry I meant evans not fletcher. I didn't say he kicked him. I said it was dangerous play which it clearly was.

Draw would have been a fair result.

It was a penalty for me in the first half, it was never a free kick for the goal and Drogba was offside. Really not sure what people are suggesting Evans should have got sent off for, it was a yellow at worst.

Still 2nd :)

GETT IIINNNN

Chelsea played the better football.

Serves thug Flethcer right!!

United=Nout without Ronaldo.

If you're going to post like that, you can stay a "serial thread reader" :)

its the 50/50 decisions in the dangerous areas that ALWAYS go against Utd, did with Liverpool and did today, whether you are unbiased or not its really not debatable (look at Rooney's "offside" in the first 10 minutes for an example, he was clearly a yard or two ONSIDE)

Not when Drogba was two or three foot lower down and never had a chance of getting the ball

edit sorry for the double post
