Weekend Football Thread. 7-9 *spoilers*

The best team lost today simple as, apart from Anelka and possible Terry and Carvalho there wasn't a Chelsea player that played above a 6 whereas Evans, Fletcher, Anderson, Valencia were all at least 8's

Oh well just need to make sure we get the 6 points back when we play Pool and Chelsea at OT and hope the home teams winning the big 4 clashes holds up when Chelsea play Arsenal after the International Break

Well proud of our performance today

Sorry I meant evans not fletcher. I didn't say he kicked him. I said it was dangerous play which it clearly was.

Evans jumped to head the ball, Drogba (no chance of getting the ball) attempts to jump in to him and instead jumps into Evans foot.

Drgoba booked (Y)

Not really got any complaints about the ref / decisions, I thought Lampard fouled Valencia in the first half but "meh".

Just didn't think either side did enough / played well enough to warrent the win, United were "just" better then Chelsea but still a draw would have been fair.

Very good game - pity the ref and assistants decided the game

Valencia deserved a penalty in the 1st half against Terry
It was NEVER a free kick against Fletcher
Rooney had left the back four for dead in the 1st half when he was yards ON side, only to be called back

Valencia Penalty, yes probably though from behind you can't see the shirt pull at all and it looks more like a dive from Valencia after the balls gone. From the ref's angle it looked more a yellow card, and first glance it looked a dive, only replay from the other angle can you see the shirt.

NEver a freekick against Valencia, Cole was running in the direction the ball was moving, Fletcher ran in at a right angle smack into Cole, then ran off with the ball once Cole was on the ground, without the block he doesn't get the ball its really that simple, clear as day foul.

I also need to see a replay of the Drogba/Evans incident, frankly from the one quick replay I saw Drogba ran in to block and Evans studded him right in the chest, if he's clearing the ball only I can't see any reason for the face of his boot getting Drogba, studs side in first seems almost on purpose, if it was it should have been a straight red as frankly it seems like he took the chance to stud Drogba. Not very clear from first look though, either way you can count yourselves lucky for Evans being on the pitch I think, Terry might have conceded a pen, but it wouldn't have been a red card.

Fletcher did I don't know how many fouls throughout, complained and up in the ref's face for EVERY little thing, so a usual game from him. Wasn't a vintage performance from either.

EDIT:- Also forgot, Rooney was YARDS onside, YARDS? it was inches, but onside, getting very bored with linesmen who get plenty of simply decisions wrong and rarely get the big decisions right at all. Shouldn't we be shooting for 99% of simple decisions right and be aiming for 70-80% of the harder calls right? Standards have been ruddy awful from ref's and linesmen this season.

its the 50/50 decisions in the dangerous areas that ALWAYS go against Utd, did with Liverpool and did today, whether you are unbiased or not its really not debatable (look at Rooney's "offside" in the first 10 minutes for an example, he was clearly a yard or two ONSIDE)

Every fan feels like all the decisions are goign against them when there team are losing, i know exactly how it feels....im a leeds fan afterall, i've had a lot of experience in that department ;)

The difference is though, that man utd fans seem to go completely up the wall when they feel the decisions are going against them, everyone else learns to accept it.

There was one bad offside decision against united. Bad offside decisions happen all the time, let's not read too much into this.

everything the ref did seemed fine, every one of the man united and chelsea supporters will disagree with that though obviously.

.

Strange! I thought he was pretty poor.
Missed a clear penalty, gave Drogba a yellow for getting kicked in the chest, missed the clearest foul from Lampard in the first half, gave the freekick for the goal when it wasn't a free kick, missed Drogba being offside for said goal, didn't bother adding any time for the sub (30 sec?) and generally got a lot of smaller decisions wrong (for both teams).
But as I've said before, the standard in this league is terrible. Decisions are totally random, with ref's not being biased or "influenced" by anything - They are just poor

It doenst happen game after game though with CLEAR goal scoring opportunities though with most other teams

I note you didnt comment on the actual decision today.....avoiding a thorny subject by any chance?

It helps if your team plays in a completely different league

He was jumping under no pressure, Until Drogba decided to "chaaaarge" at him.

So players routinely stick one leg up uncomftably high, for a header? it was above waist height on Evans, I've NEVER seen a player do that when going to head the ball.

As for under no pressure, Drogba was closing in before he jumped, as for chaaaarge at him, well Drogba made no contact with anything but Evans leg, so he didn't charge directly into Evans, also since when are you not allowed to put someone under pressure. None of that explains the ridiculously high foot, nor the studs showing.

The sort of small minded reply i would expect from someone that can't accept the fact that his football team isn't top of the table for a change. Let it go, accept the loss, and grow up.

Oh no, I only came in here to feed the trolls, and to now feed you.

Omnom it up sir.

dont be silly - it was only above waist height because Drogba decided to jump about 2 mm, compared to himself Evans' leg was about 30 degrees

Watch more football?

Evans didn't do anything wrong, Drogba jumped in to him when it was clear he wasn't going to win the ball.

Didn't think the ref got 'owt wrong today, just didn't feel Chelsea deserved to win on the run of play.

oooo! DM! I'm not online long :(

Was it Song / Diabys fault you conceded a goal? :p

You should stay " a serial thread reader " :)

Don't suppose we will see you again until Chelsea next beat United or another top 4 side?

I'll continue to post as frequently as I want to :p

But seriously I will post when I feel I have an opinion to voice, everything I have posted in this thread is my view on the game.

Am starting to wish I never bothered feels like that if I don't agree with the so called "regulars" in the Sports Arena then I shouldn't post.

Sorry for having an opinion as a fan.

Well, first of all the 30seconds is just being fussy (though i know how much man utd loves to ensure they have the exact injury time.. ;))

Drogba didn't touch the ball and wasn't offside for the goal, im sure the ref had a reason for booking him when he got kicked in the chest (probably acting like a tard when he was on the ground playacting)

As for the penalty shout and the freekick id have to watch them two again, but when i first seen the freekick i thought it was the right decision, and that's obviously how the ref felt, afterall like i say, the ref doesn't have the luxury of replays.

yes it does

There you go read above :)

as for supporting a team in a different league, it means i have no biased decision at all on what happens in the premiership, i just like watching a good match :)

Sorry for having an opinion.

So I guess we will be graced with your next post if Chelsea beat United at Old Trafford?

I'll mark it in on my calander :)

You can't post anything like that mrbios.

I said it was a free-kick and got accused of being blind.

You have a view on the game, but that means you must be a troll because it is not in-line with that of a United fan.
