Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 11-14

Lennon was excellent in spells and was swapped over on both wings. I think Fletcher and Anderson got back enough to help out and nullified his impact on the game. He's really improved in the last year. Had to laugh when he thought he should have had a penalty when the foul (if you'd even consider it a foul) was outside the box.

How the **** Crouchiniho has stolen a living as a professional footballer is beyond me. He's dire in the air little pace and is deceptively cack one one one.

Don't agree with that tbh. His touch is fantastic, and despite being 'dire in the air' he won an awful lot of headers and was unlucky with one that hit the bar.

Not bad luck, poor technique in all honesty. With his height, his position and the marking Crouch is one of the only forwards I would bet against scoring.

Crouch wins headers by using his arms on defenders, he only started getting whistled for it in the second half. He also is terrible at directing the ball, not managing a single header on target and I don't think he found teammates very many times when knocking it down.

This was uncalled for, surely?

RvP said:
"I am sad and disappointed by my former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor's mindless and malicious stamp on me during today's match.

"We are both professional footballers and I know that the game is physical, I too have made hard and sometimes mis-timed challenges but never with the intention of hurting an opponent. He set out to hurt me today.

"I knew he was aiming for a collision because he changed the angle of his body to allow contact to be made. He moved backwards when his natural momentum would have taken him forward. I find that deeply disrespectful. He has shown a real lack of class today, to me and the fans.

"I do feel lucky that I have not suffered a greater injury. The contact was only centimetres from my eye. I have not received an apology from him, there were no words exchanged afterwards. He had his own agenda today and that is bad for football. It's bad for the game we all love.

"I want to make it clear that this has nothing to do with the result of today's match. We do not hide from that disappointment but I need to speak out about his behaviour."

I watched the game...Adebayour's behavior for most of the game was inexcusable. The incident with Van Persie was just one occasion where he appeared to overstep the mark so no; I don't think it was uncalled for. I think action should be taken. He nearly caused a full on riot with his celebration!

Completely agree. He's a threat because his height means he'll win more than his fair share of headers but so often he wastes the chances he gets.

This is completely not true. He gets so many free-kicks given against him when 9 time out of 10, he's the one getting fouled. He looks ungainly because of his height but when you watch the replays he's usually done nothing wrong.

He scored the most headed goals in the Premiership last season and already has 2 for Spurs this season. He's not great with his head but he's far from poor.

That's not because he's good in the air, it's because he gets so many chances. You just have to look at today, he had 2 great chances which he should have scored. He got a headed goal vs Birmingham the other week but also missed 2 or 3 good great chances.

Did you see the O'Shea one where he was feigning innocence? He had both his arms on O'Shea's shoulders. I think it's the opposite, I think he gets away with it a lot because he look ungainly and refs are giving him an easier time. I'm always seeing him forcing defenders down.

I disagree. When teams buy Crouch, they will always play more ball into the box at height. As such there will be more chances for him to score with his head. I take your point about him scoring the most headed goals in the prem but he should score a hell of a lot more goals given the quality of crossing.

This has nothing to do with him being an ex Liverpool player, I just don't rate him regardless of the shirt he wears i'm afraid. His Technique is average at best and he really slows play down with his gangly awkward style of play

9 times out of 10? A bit of an exaggeration there Baz, he gives as good as he gets. He should know by now what results in giving the opposition a freekick.

That's one incidence. I could just as easily point the the Ferdinand incident where Ferdinand had hold of Crouch yet a free-kick went against Crouch.

But trust me, overall he gets an incredibly hard time from officials. I can honestly say that I can't recall another player getting so many bad decisions go against him as Crouch gets.

I think Spurs got it wrong today, should never have started Crouch. Yes he made himself a nuisance which helped cause the first goal but they always looked for the long ball.

Yea, not challenging for headers.

And I was going to say 99 times out of 100 but I didn't want to go OTT.

2 things cost us IMO.

Keane on left.

Palacios yellow.

Once Palacios was booked, our high pressuring game went out the window. It's scary how much we rely on him.
