Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 18-22

United didn't get lucky at all.

The forth official is there to give advice on added time, and the actual announcement given is the minimum amount of added time is.....

Therefore there is no reason why the referee cannot add on whatever amount of time he wants.

Whatever idiot fan threw the coin at Tevez and hit Garrido instead needs to be banned from Old Trafford. And the moron who ran onto the pitch needs his head checked. I don't understand why idiots feel the need to run onto the pitch. Bellamy could be facing some punishment for being a muppet. Idiots, morons and muppets!

That was a quality goal from Drogba, how serious is his injury?

The final whistle was blown at 96:51, so if anything we should be moaning at the ref for adding on time to give City a chance to equalise :p

MOT2 have just shown that Utd got lucky with the added time. The whistle should have blown (even if you add on the entire time taken for City's celebration) 1 second before Owen scored :p

I know your post was made in jest but it got on my wick how stupid they were. taking the time to time the celebrations acknowledging the 30 second rule but not mentioning the most basic fact that the 4minutes is a minimum, just struck me as dumb.

Never understood running onto the pitch, great way to get yourself banned for life.

Ban the dude who ran on the pitch and the coin thrower, the coin thrower should be hit with criminal proceedings as well. it's a disgrace doing that kind of stuff.

Anyone in manchester got a big printer, a ladder, and fancy a trip to Eastlands? :D

UNITED FAN

Great game for both sides imo, Given is a world class keeper he has so much over Foster tbh.

The close to 97 minutes watch was a bit dodgy but hey, thats football :/

My mate lost out on £70, he had 3-3 down and Owen ruined that :D

The best derby in a long time :)

your mate will be ok its score on 90 mins so he should still win make sure he keeps his betting slip

Another sublime performance by Giggs today, well second half anyway. None of our team really showed up for the first half... but wait Giggs is 36... he cant be good can he? :p

He was good, showing that PFA player of the year form again (Will the Stevie G fans spit their dummies out of the pram again if he wins it this year too?). Think Maldini must have sent him the secrets of prolonged youth a couple of years ago. Back then people were questioning would he end that season or the one after, now it's a case of wondering how many more seasons he can go on for. On current form and if he can maintain it I see no reason for him not to carry on to next season as well. Must find out what sort of Yoga he's been doing. I've just turned 30 and almost everything aches now!

Three superb assists and he also gave Berba chance after chance on a platter. Absolute legend.
:D

To be honest in most matches there isn't enough time added on, it's supposed to be (unless I'm misinformed) 30s per sub which means in most matches you should be talking 2-3mins of added time even before you've taken any stoppages into account. Against Birmingham last season it was a joke, only 9mins stoppage time iirc even though Eduardo on his own took over 8mins iirc.

Then of course remember the more time is added on, the more chances are that there will be further stoppages during added time. If a ref indicates a minimum of 8mins added time then it may well end up being more if anything happens in that 8 mins.

Plus of course as you say, it's a MINIMUM of 4mins. Which in my book means anything up to 4:59 even if there are no further stoppages (think about it kids.... added time isn't always going to be a nice round number, maybe the ref reckons 4:37 was lost during the 2nd half, so he says min 4mins, that doesn't mean that the whistle should blow on 94:00).
