Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 29-31

Wenger is priceless with his comments about Utd. Same old bad loser whinging :D

And Fergie doesnt whinge like a ***** does he??...last yr he was going at it with Rafa...personally i thought the both of them needed to go to a dark alley and get it on...so much so was the love they had for each other:p

He has every reason to whinge a bit...first that ref cost us the game in case you didnt notice that we had a straight penalty appeal turned down...not disputing that Rooney shouldnt have got a penalty as it was a clear cut penalty as far as i could see...Almunia had no need to go out to try and get the ball...secondly Diaby gave you guys the second goal...we should have won that game simple as...we had another goal turned down due to Gallas being off side.

Anyhow we lost...big ****ing deal tbh...its only one loss so far so we are even with Man Utd with the number of losses this yr....we didnt lose to Burnley;)...we lost to a top 4 side...i think its more embarrasing to lose to a newly promoted side than it is to a top 4 team dont ya think??:p

Yeah, you should have had a penalty. But on the flipside, had you taken the penalty, it might have been saved and the game could have gone in a completely different direction. You might have been spanked 5-0, or you might have gone on to win 5-0. But I bet if you were to ask any Arsenal fan after the goal whether they would have preferred to have had a penalty or the goal, they would have taken the goal. It's only with the hindsight of losing that you want a different outcome.

I can understand Wenger criticising the referee for missing the penalty, and for sending him off pointlessly. But complaining about Man Utd playing "anti-football" just makes him sound like a bad loser. The English game has always been physical, and he's been around long enough to know that. If he can't man his players up, then it's his own fault.

I think Arsene Whinger makes me smile ;)

Agree. Wasn't so long ago that a player he now wants back was fouling people left, right and centre.

I think his point is that Fletcher and Carrick weren't given yellow cards when they constantly fouled and broke up Arsenal attacks.

first that ref cost us the game in case you didnt notice

Erm, no he didn't..

we had a straight penalty appeal turned down

But as has been said a bazillion times, you scored from the same move. If the penalty was given, you wouldn't be any better off..

not disputing that Rooney shouldnt have got a penalty as it was a clear cut penalty as far as i could see

So how did the ref cost you the game?

So why are Arsenal fans and Whinger so upset then?

The ref isn't a psychic, not awarding a blatent penalty is still a big **** up by him.

While thats true - its not like it would definitely have generated a different outcome (as it was in the same move that resulted in the goal anyway)

So Arsenal would still have lost

Its also plausible to say that Arsenal players could have been sent off for double yellows the way some of them where fouling but where let off a few times (and yes maybe that would have been harsh, but another ref another day may have easily given reds)

Arsenal didnt deserve to WIN on Saturday as simple as that

Not true, even the smallest off differences takes the game on a different course than it would have originally gone.

You've got to ask yourself exactly why the ref saw fit to give nothing even though he was looking right at it from less than ten yards away though.
Even the die-hard United fanson here admit it was a pen so what reason other than 'OldTraffordish' bias can there be for him not giving it? :D

notice the wordx "definitely" and "outcome" (ie result) in my quote

Just because the game takes a different course doesnt mean the outcome changes

stop clutching at straws ;)

I'd just like to say - we're top of the table!!!

(Championship table but still... :) )

Come on the Toon - 2 points clear and the new lad Ranger looks class.

Panzer

Notice the following quote...

That's what I was disputing. ;)

and you could have just as easily NOT scored the penalty

all Arsenal can say is that they should have got a penalty INSTEAD of the goal.....whether thats scored or not is a completely different question (or probability if you want to look at it that way)

its all ifs buts and maybe's ;)

You could just as easily suggest Utd would have scored again with one of their handful of chances
