Weekend Football Thread *spoilers*

That isn't what they said on MOTD, can't remember exactly but I thought it was something like 2 in 8!

Edit: Just checked, we'd won 3 of the last 11 there before yesterday. Sounds like a bogey ground to me.

Well, I dont do to bad considering I dont run to the internet for my facts straight away ;)

Its 6 away wins and 6 draws since the premier league began.
Dont forget that for some of that time, West Ham have not been in the league.

His short passing is atrocious, his long passing is atrocious, he's not very mobile, he can't tackle but he can spank a ball in from outside the box.

Made me cringe when they were talking about him replacing Scholes on MoTD :/

He does suck, his first half performance in particular yesterday was one of the worst displays I've seen from anyone, If the playing staff had been available, he would have been off and not seen again for another couple of months.

He's a bit crap. on the other hand out of all of our midfielders currently I'd say he was the one most likely to score in any given game. reflects more on us than anything else though.

I would have to agree with this.

Him, or perhaps Giggs. Only CM wise though.

If he continues smacking goals in from 20 yards I don't care how else he plays. I never rated his passing or his positional play before this recent **** fest but I reckon with a run in the team and the right coaching he can sort out his closing down and be a viable option.

He was pretty poor at wolves, but SAF obviously rates him so he must have something in his locker other than the shooting...or he is being put in the shop window.

Lampard improved enormously from being an average CM to what he is now, I reckon Gibson is of a similar ilk...not in Scholes' class though.

I thought Anderson played well yesterday and he is a player I do have high hopes for; not sure how a professional football can be so bad at shooting especially one who can passes/cross so well

Yesterday we saw EXACTLY the same incident as occurred at Chelsea v ManU whereas the defender clears the ball and the attacker runs into his raised foot and then there's a second movement (Carvalho on Tevez and Evans on Drogba) and yet each incident got the opposite reaction from the ref. On one the attacker is yellow carded & the other results in a goal from the freekick.
Perhaps some of you 'unbiased' ;) experts could explain the difference.

The angle on MOTD showed pretty clearly that Carvalho followed through rather than retracting his leg quickly like you would expect after clearing a ball.

Problem is, Chelsea are not loosing to teams like Burnley, where as United are, and not looking like taking points of their main title rivals either.

What league have you been watching?

United have lost 3 games - Burnley, Liverpool & Chelsea all away

Chelsea on the other hand have lost to Wigan, Villa & City all away

I know which looks a lot easier to take

I don't think he's passing is that bad, it just needs to improve :p

Does have a cracking shot on him though.

He's nowhere near as good as Scholes, doubt he ever will be.

Have you forgotten the evans challenge on drogba already? It was a much worse tackly with clear intent and he should have got a red card for it. Carvalho's was not as bad.

:D

Drogba ran in to Evans as he was jumping and came off worse?

Tevez was running past / away from Carvalho who then kicked him.

Lampard missed a pen! Bet that's not happened for a while.

Olly was rubbish on the X Factor last night.

Since we're bring irrelevant arguments into it.

 It's not irrelevant as it had just been mentioned a few posts above yours. It also happens to be recent and very similar to the incident being discussed.

The point was you had 2 similar tackles (although I think evan's was much worse) with opposite decisions from the ref. And we've already had a couple of man u fans lining up to slate carvalho when I didn't hear any man u fans mention the evans - drogba incident at the time.

Agreed, the Evans one was worse and a red imo, but the Carvalho one was bad too and deserved a yellow, definite intent there. He's such a good defender and moments like that let him down
