** Weekend Football Thread **

Was Almunia injured today as well does anybody know? Or just rested?

Im pretty sure at the start of the game they did say Almunia was injured or being rested...cant be 110% sure though.

Ahh well another drubbing for Arsenal..sometimes makes me sad and embarrassed that i support them. They got utterly and truly spanked by Chelsea just like last week against Man Utd and the stupid thing is...we started off better and should have had at least a couple of goals. We definitely miss having a 'fox in the box' ie Eduardo.

Dont really know what else to say...getting rid of Wenger is just plain stupid...lets not turn into a Tottenham or Chelski type team ie forever changing their managers when things dont work out:p.

We need a strong DM, along the lines of Flamini or Toure.

We then need to sell Adebayor, if we can get 10 million for him I will dance a happy jig, and we need to be looking at signing a pacey forward who can finish. David Villa would be ideal, but I think I've got more chance of a threesome with Jessica Alba and Megan Fox than that happening.

Next, we need a centre-back that can actually head the ball and marshall a defence. I cant think of anybody off the top of my head that we have a remote chance of landing, but its what we need.

A new goalkeeper wouldnt go amiss either, since Almunia and Fabianski are both well known to bottle it in big games.

I'm by no means complaining but Wenger made a massive mistake (or two) today by leaving Adebayor & Bender out of the starting line up, he probably had his reasons but **** knows what they might be, it's not as if he needs to rest them for anything :/

Cech had another good game, he seems to be over his wet patch now & apart from that there's very little to take from the game except 3rd place I guess.

I said at the time, and I'll say it again to agree with you. I have no idea why he left two strikers out. I think he'd have done better in starting at least one.

Arsenal are going through a rough couple of games, losing to United and Chelsea fairly easily. Doesn't warrant questioning one of the best managers in the League, who also has a record of winning things. Crazy.

Cech was alright today, he is by no means the best keeper in the world, I don't think he's even the best keep in the League, but he is a good keeper. He made a couple of good saves, but in truth Arsenal didn't really threaten him much, I seem to remember a lot shots going wide. He's still not as good as before hunt trying to murder him.

I think in this day and age he is worth that money...

Be a shame to for man utd fans and the team for him to go because he is obviously well liked...

Especially when he could end up somewhere like Man City just for money

Tevez played top notch today. Deserves to be a United player.

Hoping to high heaven that he doesn't get sold. It isn't looking good though.

It's pretty clear to everyone but Wenger that they are crying out for a no nonsense DM, if he doesn't buy a big name (he'll most likely buy an almost finished bargain, but will that appease the fans?) then he's a fool.

And a CB i think, someone who is a no nonsense defender.

Did you read the article in the Telegraph? very intresting! Wonder where he'll go? City, Liverpool? There's already been a £40m offer from a non-uk side. Dunno who that is tho, could be Inter, perfect replacement for Adriano.

Tevez is a great player, and I hope he stays. But not for £30m.

He's not worth that much - his ball control has a tendency to go missing, and sometimes he's totally anonymous for large parts of matches. Not a clinical enough striker either.

I still don't understand how one person can be allowed to "own" a player, in the same manner as a football club would, whilst not actually even having him on a contract of his own. I mean, essentially, Man Utd are paying £30m in agents fees, and that's ok. It really is a ridiculous state of affairs, and for football's sake, I wish FIFA, the FA, United, Tevez, and anybody else who wants to get involved would just tell Joorbchian to walk off a pier. He's been desperately hanging on to Tevez's coattails in the hope of lining his own pockets for far too long now.

100% agree. Kia is a right slimy little worm, anyone can see that just by looking at the man.
