* weekend football thread *

Us going down and Sunderland staying up will be the worst situation in North East football for years...

Just means all the closet Sunderland fans will come out and all Sunderland fans will be absolute douchebags having the only Prem club in the North East...

Normally the sunderland shirts go away when they are in the championship

having lived up here for a number of years now and seen Sunderland get relegated a couple of times I can say that that is not the case. You see just as many shirts when they are in the championship as you do when they are in the PL

You could say the same for Liverpool. At least Newcastle have topped the league for a number of weeks and qualified for the CL how many other teams can say that?

And thats means what, you have more experience than many teams and your clubs has been ruined by the owners.

Except Man U, Liverpool...

It's grim down south if anything. :p

I meant the true north as some seem to think it is, but they cant play any sport right.

Not at all - at least Liverpool challange for one or two cups EACH season.

When you say Newcastle did that - what must be nearly 10 years ago, and they did it once - not really like they have been anywhere close for a pretty long time

They dont deserve to be in the EPL simple as

Ok, so see ya later Tottennham, Bolton, Man City, Everton, Portsmouth, Fulham, Wigan, Aston Villa, West Ham, Blackburn ...

They have had a fair few chances in the Premierleague and done very little, lets relegate them all

Talk about taking it to extremes

Tottenham may not be one of my favourite clubs in the EPL but they have done pretty well since Harry came in, and are in Europe most years which is really what that level of club deserve ( like Everton most years and AV last few). For their size etc they are all doing incredibly well

Most of those teams have got the 40 points required - face it Newcastle arent going to make that mark, and Pompey only just made it by the skin of their teeth. Sunderland, Newcastle and boro are all clubs which are much larger financially than Hull (and WBA too) and so it wouldnt do any harm at all to see some of the bigger clubs go down and get some real fresh blood in the EPL to see if they can do a Stoke or better Hull's initial few months in the top league

Also with a few big boys going down maybe it might teach the league in general to stick by their manager - how many have Newcastle had in the last few seasons - 5 or so? (ok ok boro have had Southgate for quite a while now )

We won't deserve to be in the PL if my finish in the bottom three, IMO, nothing to do with what happened in any other seasons.

And btw, we were top for four weeks in 01/02 at Christmas. ;)

As for Tottenham, Everton etc. deserving to stay up, I'm not so sure. Only the top 4 plus Villa have earned more PL points than Newcastle, with a few of the teams below us ie. Tottenham, having played more games. ;)

Nearly as bad as Liverpool for living in the past ......at least they WON something :D

Everton frequently get in the top 6 and in consecutive years..ie holding their own with pretty meagre income. They certainly deserve it more than Newcastle , fraid your view kinda falls down right there ;)

It wont matter anyway. Hull will lose against Manu's womens team and Newcastle will atleast get a point at villa although I expect all 3. One win in 12 for villa and only 9 wins at home and 12 draws with nothing to play for.

Villas form of late has been shocking.

A point will be enough against villa to stay up on goal difference.

I actually think you are wrong - Ive got a feeling it will be a home win at Hull (after all they took our main team all the way in a 4-3 at OT earlier in the season)

I think Hull have a much higher chance of getting a draw or sneaking a win against Manchester United.

United will not play their first choice players, but the players that are playing will have something to prove. Hull have to win to stay up, should be good.

Newcastle, have to win, Aston Villa are at home, last day of the season and want to get 5th. Aston Villa will want to finish on a high.

Middlesborough are gone, sorry.

Sunderland are more or less safe.

Villa have had a terrible run , until they meet Newcastle.

Normally we are the team that form doesnt matter, we just get beat

Yep it's got to stop sometime (their poor form), they should have beat Boro with the chances they had so it's not like they are playing paticuarly bad. If therever is an excuse to play well anyway, its at home, on the last day of the season. Finish on a high.
