Wenger thread

Ok we need team threads. It is a football forum after all and should help it grow.

For what it's worth, I enjoyed reading the Wenger thread and it's interesting to know what goes on at Arsenal. Other threads would be similar.

We have team threads, Transfer thread is a generic United thread, Banter thread is the (anti) LFC thread, match day thread is Arsenal fans /wrists thread.

Wow. In place since 2007 that rule. Surely if someone wants to make a thread about their favourite team, they can? Seems a bit OTT on the control front. You don't have to read it. If it attracted trolls and the likes then so be it. The majority of threads in general and motors attract trolls but we go on living.

As I said, it's been brought up countless times since and we're still not allowed club threads. I can't see it changing anytime soon.

Tbh it made sense when it was a generic Sports forum as it was bad enough that footie was half of the threads on the first page let alone having club threads but not having club orientated threads in a forum devoted specifically to footie just seems daft and ends up with perfectly good and interesting threads being locked.

I don't see the problem with having some club threads. For example:

*** The Official Arsenal Thread ***

And in there the various aspects of the club can be discussed. Obviously no trolling is allowed but I'm sure it wouldn't be much of an issue.

I have to agree with this.

If we can't talk about teams, what can we talk about? We don't need just one big thread for everything in a dedicated football forum.

If it's just Rotty who can't be arsed with the potential extra hassle then bring another mod in?

BaZ proposed an injury/suspension thread in that thread, I'm not sure if that was ever done or not but if the dons still want to keep the community mixing with each other and fear club threads would jeopardise that then just create a generic injuries/suspension thread, generic academy thread, generic finances thread. They'd probably turn into pages and pages about one club anyway so it's possibly not the best idea saying that...

The 1 team threads resullted in stifled discussion, a reduction in new threads, fragmented discussion and accusations of trolling if non fans dared to go in there, after they were stop things improved considerably, if folks wat to discuss whether Wenger should be sacked then start a new thread but keep it on topic

You say keep it on topic, but surely it's going to revolve around Arsenal as a whole so varied discussion will be expected.

As it stood, it wasn't doing any harm at all, so it seemed needless to lock it.

I don't see the point in an official thread, tbh. Random information can go in the banter thread. Gameday stuff can go in a gameday thread. Notable things can have their own thread (if accounts are released/there's a takeover/there's a managerial change/etc).

correct, notable stuff just gets mixed up and lost with other stuff, some people never see stuff and others just go in to cause trouble

often 10 topics would be being discussed at 1 time with all the individual posts mixed up
