Wetherspoons

My sister works at weatherspoons in Burnley and seems to enjoy it, shes a supervisor at the moment and has been told that she is manager material. She thinks some of the rules they have are stupid though.

What words/phrases spring to mind when you think of a Wetherspoons?

Steak Night.

What do you think of their customer service? And how do you think it could be improved?

cheers :)

I know this isn't that useful, but the customer service in 'Spoons in Hanley in Stoke is second to none. :)

For the others I've been to, generally speaking it's been pretty good too :)

When I think of the lloyds/wetherspoons chain as a whole, I just think it's familiar. You know what drinks they serve and what prices they are roughly. And there's cheap edible food. As for atmosphere that differs between all of them. The local Lloyds bar in Wokingham is great for me since there's always someone I know in there and the atmosphere is usually quite good. I know two of the Wetherspoons in Reading and they're ok places to sit and have a drink with your mates. As is the one on the triangle in Bristol.

Wetherspoons strongest point is the late opening times. For me and friends, who are bored of clubbing, Friday and Saturday nights usually consist of spending most of the evening up until 11 in a nice pub, like one of the country pubs near us, then moving to the town centre to sit in the Wetherspoons until 1AM. Usually after 11 o clock, everyones gone off to the club, leaving the pub relatively quiet for the last couple of hours of cheap drinking :)

Local one (Rochester) isn't too bad, go there fairly often, it's open late 1am, good choice of continental lagers, cheap, it's got a TV, the doormen are quite strict on id so no young chav type people are there, and the staff are quite friendly (well when it's empty anyway). On the downside it can become quite crowded on the weekend mainly due to people heading to the nearby nightclub (Casino's) and because of this getting served can take a while, and the toilets had vomit in them (although this was down to me :( ).

overall, I like!!

going into a wetherspoons is like driving a kia... they are the whie appliance of the pub world.

Wetherspoons doesn't play music?
since when?
always got music on in the one in Truro!
I quite like wetherspoons, its quiet and warm, cheap beer etc and frendly
however I'd rather go to the other pubs/bars in Truro as 99% of the people in Wetherspoons are older than my mum.

I've been offered a team leader position, just waiting until i've been there for 3 months to take it. After that its been made clear to me (by the Chairman of the company himself) that I'll be progressing very quickly.

Lol well the chairman of the company cant no that much, you have to be there 6 months to be a supervisor/team leader, i know that because i just got made one 6 months and 1 day after been there, someone is lying to you, i think you better get in touch with your atc.

As far as some of the comments go i agree its lacking in atmosphere but as i dont like most of the "trendy" music played in other pubs i quite like it, be glad when its smoke free as well to be honest.

The worst part about most of the typical weatherspoons is how they harbour the "regulars" because of the cheap beer, other people coming in can find it intimidating.

I only do it when i am not at uni and at weekends and i quite enjoy it to be honest, best job i have had.

Usually have good value not-too-horrible food, but are generally full of horrible scummy chav scum scum that I wouldn't want to be within 5 miles of.

food terrible, however it normally arrives in under 5mins lol
Yeah my sister brought home some chille con carne, its basically microwave food. Comes in a white tub with instructions for banging it in the microwave. Tasted pretty horrible as well, in fact i think there still in the freezer lol.

Curry and a pint in Lancaster is £3.99 on a Thursday, most of them are a bit nasty but the Lamb Dhansak is spot on. Plus regular special ales for £1.49 = good news. Large no smoking area means limited chavage. In general I like them.

The Lloyds in Newcastle is still an ok place to meet up for a round or two before moving somewhere else after work on a Friday - stay too late and the filth start to take over. Turn up after 8pm and you may as well go somewhere else. Music gets too loud and it's basically a disco. Bleh.

Wetherspoons....well, I've not been there in a while, but had a few good nights in there - lack of music is irrelevant really, especially as I think most popular music is a load of rubbish and I'm happy just being able to hear my mates (but not if they start singing).

Both cheap.

Oh, and the only time I ever drink cider is in Lloyds cos they serve that Swedish pear cider and I think it's great :)
