What are the 30 year old plus gamers playing?

It’s that time of year now where the gaming interest wanes and I play very little. Although tonight the Missouri DLC comes out for American Truck Simulator so that will keep me entertained for a few days.

Adult life and lack of time ruins gaming hobby :(
This is me over the last month too!

Just over a week in LA for work, operation and painting the house = no games

Took the deck with me for the flight which was awesome, ploughed into some dirt showdown + few other games and it gave back nearly 5 hours battery life locked to 60fps and half brightness

Told myself I would use the evenings in hotel to get some game hours in but by time spent 7-8 hours on show stand, eaten and went for drinks with supplier or something I was knackered and in bed!

It does get under your skin for run and gun shooter!

Friends and I played it for quite a while 4 player and was decent. Fantastic looking game too
Absolutely, the level of detail is great!

Definitely has that compelling, one more mission gameplay, moreso than other PvE horde shooters I've played.

Schedule 1
Strangely addictive even though it shouldn't be.

Hopefully the guy makes a sequel with some of the money hes made and brings it a bit closer to a gta style game.

Rockstar shoulda done something like this years ago

58 here - and seem to be playing stuff that reminds me of games I played in my 30's it seems these days

Mechwarrior 5 - both reminds me of Mechwarrior 2 ( still the game with the best soundtrack ever imho) and gives me memories of playing the original Table top
Europa Universalis 4 - reminds me of all the old wargaming title we had before 3D was a thing
Cities Skylines - Simcity 2000 ++++++++
Had to go find the MW2 ost on YouTube after this post. I had the original big box version might still be in the loft somewhere, but yeah the soundtrack was amazing!!!!

If you really want to be reminded of the Battletech tabletop, play the Harebrained Studios Battletech game with the Battletech Advanced mod. That really is something else.

I'm also playing Spider-Man 2. The gameplay is great, the story is a bit meh, but I'm disappointed by the visuals.

There seems to be a lot of artifacting even after the patches, flickering along distant edges etc, and then some of the noise created by RT is horrible.

In other areas it looks great however, the reflections in particular can be superb. Here's hoping they fix it, though with TLOU2 out now I'm not so sure they'll bother.

Don't usual play this kind of game (my go to is either call of duty or strategy games like total war), but I've been enjoying Atomfall over the last few days. I quite like the mystery element.

(Late forties, been playing games since the bbc micro!)

As part of my trawl through my unplayed backlog I started Kena: Bridge of spirits and have been really enjoying it as the game progresses

It's a bit of slow starter but builds into quiet a great game and enjoyable storyline. Graphics engine is really nice being I believe a UE5 game and has a bit of an old n64 Zelda feel to it gameplay and puzzles wise which is never a bad thing in my eyes

I envy those that can play thr first person shooter style games, just 5 minutes and they give me the most sickly of headaches

You've likely already looked for solutions, have you tried different FoV's, adjusting brightness or look to see if games use chromatic aberration, the latter especially used to make me feel very nauseous playing Destiny 2.

FOV is very important. I remember Hexen 2 giving me awful motion sickness in my youth, to the extent I could only play for around 30 minutes at a time.
