What are the 30 year old plus gamers playing?

34 here and I've just ordered my 1St gaming rig and sold my PS4!

Planning on playing Battlefield 1,Fifa 17, Arma games,DayZ and loads more!
Can't wait for high fps and top graphics :D

I've currently got varying degrees of progress in playthroughs of Witcher 3, Wolfenstein: New Order, TR:ROTR, Mad Max, Dark Souls III and Doom. I also play Kerbal Space Program pretty often (my Realism Overhaul/RSS/RP-0/Historical Contracts playthrough is on hold at the mo because of mod updates).

I'm finding lately I don't have the patience for some of the standard AAA games above though but will happily blast through an indie platform/puzzler until it's done. Can anyone suggest some decent games in that bracket for me to try? Also how's Rimworld for someone new to it and who never played Dwarf Fortress etc?

The last few games I completed and properly enjoyed were Limbo, Ori & the Blind Forest and Inside. I'm playing through The Swapper at the mo.

It's probably really dumb timing to go off AAA games just as I pick up a 1080 GTX but oh well. Feel free to laugh :)

Powered though Doom in a couple of sittings. First game I've played though this year and probably the last! Used to be big into FPS games now can barely hold my own against public players :( I have a bunch of games unlaunched and bought a gaming laptop but have only really used if for browsing and Netflix

Roll on Tekken 7 and Shenmue 3, these may be the last games I ever purchase

I mainly play Indies, in my limited gaming time. Almost never really get into AAAs when I try them (enjoying Dark Souls currently, though)

Do you like tough platformers? I really enjoyed Volgarr the Viking, Giana Sisters, and VVVVVV.

Less tough, but still brilliant is Mark of the Ninja (stealth platformer). Stealth ******* (barsteward) is also fun (puzzle platformer). Freedom Planet is a great sonic-like.

I also enjoyed Oozi: Earth Adventure, though it's a pretty bog-standard character platformer.

There's others I haven't played but are supposed to be great and are on my list: Shovel Knight, Axiom Verge, Guacamelee, Shantae & Pirate's Curse.

FTL: Faster Than Light is also worth a look. Not a platformer, but it's an amazing indie title.

I've played FTL and VVVVVV (although not completed them admittedly) but I'll definitely check out the rest. Thanks :)

I think my main problem is I've developed worse and worse gaming ADD the less time I have to actually play. Back in the day I'd get one game, play it to death (mainly various FPS's, then Eve Online, then once RL bitch-slapped me into becoming a productive member of society I've just hopped from game to game. I did play the hell out of BL2 for a decent amount of time but then I had the Mrs to play with so it was a shared experience. With some of my other games I start falling into the 'this is getting a bit grindy' mentality and get bored.

36 and pretty much just play Planetside 2. Solid fps that doesn't feel like your fighting in a corridor going round and round in circles. Closest thing I could find to BF1942.

Well your conclusion comes courtesy of the posts in this thread, so...
So.........? The thread's usefulness is done with, then?

I really dont get it. I'm not seeing any difference between between what 30+ gamers are playing in here and what younger games are playing. We're all just gamers. Why not just make this the official "What games are you playing" thread and stop excluding a bunch of people for absolutely no reason?

Is this supposed to be some pitiful midlife get-together where we all show that we're still young at heart or something? We're gamers, ****. We grew up playing games but it's hardly like music where people tend to get stuck into the stuff they grew up with and find it hard to grow out of.

Some people might think, "Oh my tastes in games have changed since I've gotten older". No, your tastes in games have changed because most people are not the same person they are forever and many people just get tired of certain genres and want something fresh, even if just temporary. I know I go through phases of liking certain types of games/genres. It'd be one thing if there was some correlation in older games largely flocking to certain types of games, but again - not seeing that here. I see plenty of people naming games like Doom and Dying Light and longform RPG's and competitive shooters and fighting games and sports games and indie games and survival games and all the same stuff that everybody else is playing, regardless of age.

It's clear we're all simply gamers so it seems silly to segregate talk about what people are playing to age groups.
