What are your bad driving habits ?

hmm...

1/ usually go about 80mph on a NSL road
2/ im very curtious, but make an effort not to let any sort of van in, or anyone pushing into the road.
3/ At night or mornings the A50 always cries out for speed, and I usually end up cruising at 120-130mph - Ive hit 145mph in the E320CDI on this road...how cool am I!!11
4/ Always accelerate heavly from 30-80 regardless of conditions

Coasting to traffic lights in neutral and not going down the gears.
Constantly checking speed, old habit from learning to drive, should probably keep more eye on the road!

1) I will tail someone with my full beams on if they've just cut me up or endangered my life.

I hope you're not one of these people that sticks their full beams on when you get overtaken, these people annoy me so much because they are now endagering my life as I can't see ****

Car:
I constantly watch the fuel gauge, noting the slightest movement and then commenting on how I need to "go easy with this tank"...a student thing I imagine.

I palm steer a lot, when reversing especially, I only realised after I took some "in car" video footage...it's terrible.

Make silly "bwarp" and "tisssshhhh" noises when i'm pretending to be a race driver.

Attempt to get lift off oversteer on EVERY roundabout that seems appropriate.

Bike:
Nail it everywhere (suppose that comes with riding a small engined 2 stroke).

Try to get my knee down on any corner that I reckon Foggy could (whilst forgetting im only on skinny tyres)

Fart in my leathers and laugh when I can smell it has seeped up to my neck.

My bad habits (in no particular order).

1. When driving round town I always end up stopping really close behind the car in front.
2. Break the NSL on a regular basis.
3. Brake too late and too hard for passengers comfort.
4. I use rotational steering (not a bad habit IMO but not how you would steer on your test).

I'm sure the list goes on and on but they're what spring to mind.

Hope you are too!

Nope, of course not  I hate getting flashed when I overtake people, or you start overtaking someone and they accelerate

The other night I was driving along the motorway (there arent many in Ireland and no one knows how to drive on them), in the inside lane, and someone cut right in front of me (as in about a foot from the front of my car) from the outside lane. It was ridiculously dangerous and unnecessary (mway was empty). Thats the kind of driving that inflicts a 20second main beam sprint. Its my only aggressive driving habit.

It's actually not that much of a threat, because a Minis main beams are so low anyway lol

my main thing is......

If i see that someone is blatantly about to make a mistake on a roundabout/junction type thing (the amount of people that just do not know lane priorities and such :o, but thats another thread!) i will speed up of aggrevate the situation further, to make a point!!

For instance, theres a 3 way sort of junction near my house, where 3 roads meet in a t, except its all one way, errm kinda hard to explain....... out comes MSPaint!!

Well my reckoning from this, is that the road on the right hand side, with no give way signs is just the bit before the top half road, ie the top half road is just a continuation on the right hand road, and the junction bit for the right hand road is just a corner.

Well, the amound of people that seem to think otherwise is quite astounding, so if i see someone who is blatantly gonna do it all wrong i will make a point of speeding up to the junction (obviously without going to fast, at the end of the day i DONT want to hit them!) but enough to scare them a bit. Happened about a week ago and the guy took the time to get out of his car and come shouting at us while we simply explained the rules of the road and how horrifically wrong he was, he did not look happy being told whats what by four teenagers in a white fiesta!

But yeah any similiar situations i will just provoke it further.

Using my laptop to post on OcUK while driving on the motorway. Flash games are fun too, helps break up the monotony. God bless GPRS.

Letting the wheel slide through my hands back to the straight position after junctions.

Using engine braking far too much.

Shouting at people who do not indicate on roundabouts

I undertake a lot, people who lane hog get on my rag so i feel the need to.

Has got me in a couple sticky situations but nothing serious.

For gods sake, keep away from the porn  :p

You say that in jest but have you ever been in a traffic jam on the M25? You have to occupy yourself somehow.

driving with one hand always on the gear shift

always slowing with the gears only (is this a bad thing)

always excessive speed on NSL roads and where appropriate

switching lanes a lot to get through heavy traffic, underpassing etc

I annoy a lot of black cab drivers in London who have no consideration for other drivers (apart from fellow cabbies), they ought to be banned

Recently started a habit of undertaking once in a while due to lane hoggers, I've always been against it in the past

As i mentioned above, its known as engine braking and if you do it regularly it will wear your clutch a lot quicker and probably will reduce the lifetime of your gearbox.

Not to mention that if you do slow down using the gears your brake lights arent on whilst you're braking and the people behind you might not be able to judge this.

I do it on literally the aproach to every junction, roundabout or any other reason for needing to slow down :(

Pretty much always engine braking
Leaving it in gear at traffic lights (although surely this isn't exactly a bad habit...)
I have developed an annoying habit of always taking it out of, then putting it back into first once I'm stopped for traffic lights or whatever
Very rarely have two hands on the wheel, one on the wheel the other is on the gear stick
Regularly speeding
Delibrately getting the rear end sliding on a wet roundabout (obviously when it's quiet)
'Palm steer', more so when doing manoeuvres.

Probably the worst habit is frequently really 'going' for it, eg taking the car upto or near the redline in each gear and way over the speed limit, braking late, taking corners quickly etc etc...
