what bought you to the ocuk website?

Been on the site since 2004 as someone showed me it back in school, Was looking for a new case to replace my beige thing :( but ended up buying some "Jeantech" thing from purple shirt world, lurked the forums for 2 years and then registered in 2006.

I used to buy hardware from a shop in Sheffield, which went out of business - forgot it's name, but it was very similar to Overclockers, that website and OcUK were the first to come up on a search.

I joined the old OcUK forums back in 2001 when I bought my first rig from here with an Abit KR7A-Raid motherboard, Athlon 1700XP CPU etc.

I didn't bother upgrading my PC again until the end of 2003, by which time OcUK had moved to a new forums in 2002 I think, after that I upgraded my PC every year lol. :)

dunno but once I found the forum I asked people for advice and despite being rude they we're intelligent, which are the two words I'd use to describe this forum :)

I purchased a Celeron300@550MHz from a US overclocking store back in what must have been around 1999/2000, and when I needed some assistance on the rig I stumbled upon OcUK and the forums. I signed up and have been around ever since!

Faulty purchase that wasn't resolved and ultimately led to me losing quite a bit of money. The forum people were unbelievably helpful though so I stuck around :p

Bought the parts for my first rig back in '05 when I realised I couldn't play ET seriously on a Celeron. Didn't join the forums til '10 though, wish I'd joined sooner :)

Anyone remember Napster? There was a plug-in called Napigator where you could choose the server that Napster connected to. They had their own forum from 1999 onwards. I stuck around on there for a few years even when Napster was no longer the big thing. Topic discussion was mostly music, with a bit of tech thrown in for good measure. Mostly American users on there but a few from the UK too and one of them pointed me to the OcUK shop in a tech thread and I did my 1st build from there in late 2003. I joined this forum about 6 months later.

The 2003 build was a P4 2.8 HT, 1GB, WD Raptor. Chucked in a GF 6800 later.

Nothing but the lulz.

Penski's and Basmic's combined sexual magnetism definitely helped.

Came to expose a serial scam artist who was posting on here. I google searched his username from another forum and found him here. Knew it was him, the same lies and pics of him in Motors.

Stayed for the craic and eventually made a purchase or two.

Came for the water cooling parts via Google. Stayed, and actually chose to buy parts from rather than just browse thanks to the forums.

The community here is, in my mind, the best service OcUK has to offer, and no doubt the best tool they have for maintaining customer loyalty.

Was told about the shop by a friend in Sixth Form when I was looking for a gaming computer. Bought the computer but didn't find the forums, wish I had done as I could have save myself a bit of cash. Second time around I had learnt my lesson and signed up to the forums for advice.

I found the forums when I was looking to find some advice on my first computer build, and it was these forums that lead me to the store. I don't think I would have ended up shopping at OcUK if it wasn't for the great advice and support here. This forum account is newer than when I originally came here, as I was a forum lurker for a year or two before I actually made an account and started posting.

..pretty much my story!

Somebody on IRC mentioned it, they were building a PC ready for Quake3 and OcUK were offering Athlons with Golden Finger devices and guaranteed overclocks. So you could get e.g. Athlon 500 @ 750mhz which was quite cheap for the performance. At the time guaranteed overclocks (or indeed retailers embracing overclocking in general) were fairly rare.

Searching for info on the Geforce 6800 and the Radeon x800xt-PE. That was back in the days of "vapourware" launches, and both cards were rare as hens teeth.
