What classic games would you like to see remastered?

Battlefield 1942 - Still my favourite game of the franchise. Far greater map variety than pretty much any of the other games in the series and it was one of the only ones that let you control naval vessels. I can't think what needs changing other than the graphics.
Perhaps the Bots/AI, but yeah, definitely. Don't remove singleplayer conquest vs bots either!
Also please remake Forgotten Hope, Desert Combat...

Keep the maps original though! El Alamein, Coral Sea, Battle of Britain, Bocage, Tobruk, Guadalcanal, Wake Island, Market Garden and more of the Epic maps!
No bloody unlocks!
Star Trek: Birth of the Federation -

Aye, I love your taste in games. I played BOTF just recently, a lot of good mods for it, the AI stays retarded though!

BOTF2 was in the making but the early alpha or whatever I tried years ago was already to complex compared to just the original BOTF.
Carmageddon

New Carmageddon isn't too bad, though it's not as good as the originals.
Didn't they port the originals to android aswell? I personally think Carma 2 was the best one!
Star Trek: Bridge Commander
Yes please, best ST game ever! Also the modding needs to stay!

For me additionally:
Need for Speed Underground 2
GTA3
GTA VC
GTA SA
Sim city 4
C&C Red Alert 2 + Yuri
C&C Generals
LOTR:BFME1 and 2
Rollercoaster Tycoon (1 and 2, or well perhaps even keep em original)
Settlers 3 and 4
Mohaa + Spearhead + Breakthrough
Original 2 call of duty's (and UO)
BF1942&SVietnam+2
Pharaoh
Caesar 3
Emperor: Rise of the middle kingdom
Railroad tycoon 2 and 3
Gears of war (1)
Flatout : Ultimate Carnage
Burnout Paradise ( has some issues now on modern hardware)
Bully: Scolarship Edition

A lot of games I wanted remade have already been Remade though:

Rome total war
Cossacks 3 (Of Europeanwars/Back to War/Art of War)
Mafia
AOE 1 and 2
C&C Red Alert
Death Rally
Age Of mythology

They also need to not touch the SFX and Music, many remakes are ruined by replacing the audio with new rubbish that doesn't bring back nostalgia/memories!

I probably forgot a few I want remade!

If you haven't already you might want to check out a game called Parkitect. It's got a lot more complexity to it to Theme Park but if you're looking for a more simplistic game you can still play it that way without going into the crazy building detail that it allows.
Yeh I've looked at that before, I fired up Planet Coaster last night for a bit but I ended up just going bankrupt after a few months!

C64 - Infiltrator.

I loved playing this as a kid. 3 parts to each mission 1. Pilot a heli to the mission area. 2. Once landed carry out the mission. 3. Heli return journey and escape.

isn't this basically a "which old games did you really like?" thread?

BF1942 was epic and yes would be great to see overhauled. Those mentioning the bots etc BF2 and BF2SF both have 64 player bot mods that work well enough for SP to be reasonably fun. Certainly good enough to hone your dog fighting skills.

UT3 and Q3 both still play well and just need a graphics boost IMO. As others say the ease of LAN/net games etc was so good compared to now.

I'd like to see RA2 pimped and AI improved, Far Cry remastered, and if we're going really really old school, a revamp of Ikari Warriors. That was so much fun back in the casette days

To the person above @snowdog mentioning LOTR BFME2 - i still play it now. Have you tried the unofficial patches 1.09 etc? They give you 1080p and a host of AI changes. The online community tend to play in those SFAIK. I still use 1.06 for SP though as I'm too familiar with it. Tracking the character adjustments between versions takes a while. Definitely read the notes before playing a serious game!

Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2
Populous
Desert strike / jungle strike / urban strike
System shock 2
Thief
Carmageddon
Dungeon Keeper could be cool with some newer graphics.
The Strike games would be great, even in 16bit the theme music was epic.

War for the Overworld is a spiritual Remaster of DK :) It was produced by the same team and even uses the same voice actor.

Kind of but not quite. It's more intended to be about older games where you feel the gameplay still holds up to this day but would still require some changes and what those changes would be.

So for example I loved Morrowind but I don't think I'd enjoy the same gameplay now so it's not on my list, it's still a fantastic game I'm not taking anything away from it but now I think I'd find it far too clunky.

I think for me the games i want to see overhauled are those where the gameplay/format worked but they need both a graphics pimp and improved AI to make use of the better processing power and algorithms, even AI learning, that is now available.

I'd also love to see, on pretty much all of these old game revamps, DRM free/DRM simple i.e non-expiring user keys without reliance on online servers etc. That for me was where the fun of local MP died. I miss local LAN parties. I also like being able to still play old games off my shelf, albeit via a VM to get them to work half the time.

Did just think of another case for this topic and we have had a few good examples. Game series where the newer games aren't as good as the older ones such as Medal of Honour and Battlefield.

PIcking on Battlefield especially, 1942 was my favourite by far, not to say I haven't played I think every game since and enjoyed most of them but the latest game (admittedly only played the beta and then a few hours at launch) was one of the worst shooter experiences I've ever had. Besides graphics I honestly can't think of anything the latest game does better than 1942 did.

i think BF2 was a good bump on 1942, they just needed more bot work and more multi-discipline maps making use of navy, air and land simultaneously. The map commander thing did get a bit annoying, but equally having some kind of objective helped, if people followed it. For me BF2 needs a solid AI learning map commander bot so players can just enjoy playing. Each squad needs its own drone and artillery call-up ability (to better fit with the modern day) and to have some static ammo and medic stations in addition to air drops similar to BF1942 where players can retreat to if the need arises. That said, removing the ammo bunkers stopped the base-camping grenade chucking shenanigans from 1942 so it's swings and roundabouts there.

This is making me want to blow the dust off BF2 again. Dangerous. Must finish other tasks first...

Here is a few PC games that I wouldn't mind getting a modern remake!
