What Console Should I Get

I own both and find myself using the PS3 more. it feels a better quality console, I prefer the interface, It's quieter and I love Wipeout.

360, It's clearly the winner considering what you've posted in your original post as you're not bothered with the Blu-ray facilities (which is the PS3's main selling point for many).

The back catalogue for the 360 is far better than the PS3 even though the PS3 is slowly catching up. take this into consideration,

Little big Planet, Killzone 2, Metal Gear 4, Resistance 2 (09 Exclusives - God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Infamous, MAG)

or

Gears of war 1/2, Grand theft auto Lost & Damned, Halo 3, Fable 2, Mass Effect, Forza 2 (09 Exclusives - Mass effect 2, Alan Wake, Halo ODST, Forza 3, Splinter Cell Conviction, Huxley)

Can't really think of any more, I'd go for the 360.
 
cousin is now on his 4th xbox 360, the first 3 done red ring of death. good thing they got 3 year warranty otherwise it bea huge waste of money.

id never get a 360, they just way too unreliable.
 
My PS3 is seeing a lot more action thesedays, as the 360 is just too noisey. Its an older model so i'm not sure if the newer H/W is any better, but ever since it came back from repair after RRoD i think they just turned all the fans up to 11 (or maybe even 12).

As Sinny pointed out above, the 360 still has a larger back catalogue, but the PS3 does seem to be catching up with some pretty neat exclusives.

Take a look at the games that are out, and the ones that are due this year... You may find that some of the exclusives really float your boat.
 
Owned both consoles.

Sold my 360 after it died, it did get replaced by MS but it wasn't getting much use so when the replacement came I decided to just get rid. BTW this was a well looked after console, was never moved around from place to place.

Also had a PS3 since launch, its still going strong, wasn't getting much use either but has been getting hammered recently with sf4 sessions, pro evo sessions and some re5.

If you want something long term, get the PS3 no question. You might buy a 360 but I think its just a matter of time before you get a PS3 anyway. Its very well built, has a good range of games, very quiet, very reliable etc etc.

Also, most my mates and cousins have a PS3 therefore it made more sense. The bluray player rarely gets used but its good to have. :)
 
PS3 is on par with the 360 the only added bonus i can see is that the ps3 has free online gaming (which ive had no problems with) , its got bluray and its quiet.

well im gonig for the ps3, read the reviews, it hasnt even reached its peak yet and some games are just awesome msg 4 resistance motorstorm uncharted killzone etc and future releases, the console hasnt even reached its full power yet, gamers are still working on stuff so its going to take a bit of time for the best releases and im willing to wait cuz i know this consoles got a long lifespan in it, 360 only has another year?
 
Well I think the 360 has more than a year in it but I also think it's generally recognised that the ps3 will have the longer life cycle.

Yep...I mean KZ2 is a great example of the PS3s power, it's such an awsome online game. You are making the correct decision imo, and you will love the system. Loads of games, free online, beautifull looking machine, you can't go wrong.
 
Definetly 360, by far the better value for money games machine, and a lot of people (myself included) view it as a better games machine overall.

I wouldnt think in this climate releasing a new console would be a good idea, the cost to software devs and to the general public would possibly be to high for such a risk. Both consoles have not reached thier peak yet as i see it, both have lots more to offer, but you have made a good choice and one im sure youll be happy with.
 
Am i the only one that actually hopes new consoles won't come out for a few years yet? I'm more than happy with the graphics each are capable of at present and my bank account is still in pain from the £280 it cost for my PS3.

Better value ?, I'm guessing most people will have this console for the next 4/5 years, even using the cheapest price you can get live for that amounts to £100/£125 just to play on-line, and then you better not need wireless in the future, £50 at the very least least, oh, and upgrading your hard drive, 360 120gb £70, PS3 160gb £30.

Now I'm not saying that your going to be needing all these extras, but if you do it certainly adds up.

No your not, I'm quite happy not see a new batch of consoles being released until at least another 4/5 years tbh, sadly though that probably won't be the case.

Nope im the same new consoles after 2012 would be quite nice, think the 360 and PS3 have enough power to not look to out dated by then. As the Wii proves pretty graphics dont mean a thing this gen.
