What did you do to your bike today?

Dropped it while moving it in the garden, right on top of my foot.
No damage to the bike though, foot is already throbbing and will probably have a lovely bruise. Stupid gravel.

On the plus side hauled it up and fitted a nice clean slightly smaller number plate and I've got a rear hugger to fit after lunch.

I hate riding around on my drive way, the gravel is so deep in some areas it freaks me out and makes manoeuvring a real pain.

Today I rode down to the Ducati dealership, picked up my seat cowl and booked in the first service, 4 week wait and I am getting them to fit my oversized screen and an Oberon clutch slave cylinder to help smooth out the hydraulic clutch which is pretty stiff.

I also fit Evotech upper and lower radiator guards as I live down some real country lanes with a lot of farm traffic and the last thing I want is a stone or bit of rock to puncture the radiators.

Hard to get a good picture without putting it on a paddock stand:

Two screws for each and the fit and finish is perfect, really impressed with the Evotech parts.

As for the quickshifter discussion, I kind of like the one on my bike but it is only smooth at higher revs when accelerating, any other time I just use the clutch as it feels wrong not to.

That's the same as clutchless shifting. It's no different at all other than just cutting the throttle for you.

I would have a read up on the best practices about when and how to use clutchless shifting as they will all apply.

In other news, I love my quickshifter, silky smooth as long as you're at least partially accelerating, even from 1st to 2nd. Don't even need the clutch until I stop with clutchless downshifts too :D

Yeah I realise it is engaging the next gear without releasing the clutch and just cutting the throttle, in the manual it says to only use it while accelerating.

If you try and do it when you are not accelerating you can feel the initial pressure on the gear selector is pushing the solenoid that cuts the throttle and then it won't move any more to the next gear unless you give it more force than normal, so it just cuts the throttle out and in again which isn't pleasant.

Obviously that is not good for the gearbox so I don't do it but I can imagine people just kicking it in and carrying on regardless.

Mine also works fine from 1st all the way to 6th as long as you are on the throttle.
I will just continue using the clutch for part throttle and general riding about as I wouldn't want to damage anything or get the lurching from throttle cut without it changing gear. :)

Your the one that's moaning

I'm going anyway

Don't go - I like your old school approach! There are different types of bikers, and thats what makes it interesting. I always get stick on here when I talk about riding with little or no protection (I get it from my dad - see the pics of him at the TT on his Virago wearing jeans and trainers lol) but I really don't care as it's still good to just share the biking camaraderie :)

Old wreck as in old compared to modern bikes, but it does me

I still couldn't bring myself to do clutchless shifting on it tho,its just wrong

It's fine, done properly it doesn't cause any more wear. With a dog box, the faster you change gear the lower the wear on the dogs. Slow changes cause the dogs to chip and round off on the edges, which will eventually cause it to jump out of gear if it gets bad enough.

Obviously the opposite applies to a synchromesh gearbox like cars use, fast hard changes in those will wear out (or break) the synchro rings.

I wouldn't go back to a bike without a quickshifter now. End of.

Rode my friends brand new 'Blade the other day and kept forgetting it didn't have one... crunch.

Yup this seems to be my next job on the bike....

Swapped the battery out last night as bump starting the bike once was enough fun for me.

Sadly by swapping out the battery I must have disturbed some of the surrounding wires. This combined with washing the bike sent the alarm mental when I activated it later on.
On top of this the alarm would not deactivate. I had to shut myself in the garage with all the gear on to hang over the hot bike to take it apart enough to fiddle with the cables to stop it.
Needles to say I was deaf and covered in sweat by the end of it....at least my son didnt get woken up by the alarm

Lol bld are a nightmare

They phoned up on Monday to sort the collection of my bike an dropping of a courtesy bike for next Monday. Said they'd call back today to sort out what bike I'd get

Got a voicemail on Wednesday saying "great the bike will be dropped off saturday" phone them back a nd say there's no one home till Monday. "Oh okay well sort it for monday"

Get a voice mail today saying they'll be arriving this afternoon.

Phone them back tell them there's no one there till Monday get told ah of well we'll rearrange for Monday.

Just got a call "hey its mike from bld I'm just outside your house with the hire bike"

...

Getting fed up riding a 125 already lol, full throttling it everywhere just to keep 40mph, can't go up a hill in 5th or 6th as the bike just slows down, thin wheels are a pain when it's windy! :p Sooner i get my license the better!

I didn't do anything to my bike but after picking up a pair of last years SuperTech R's for a good price this morning I had to give them good try out ;)

So comfy with the inner boot. Almost like my snowboarding boots but better suited to a warm day than sub zero temps ha.

I thought 125's were a bit faster than that. I went from a 50cc to a 650cc, so ain't rode a 125cc other than my A2 licence and thought that was quite quick.

Mine won't do anything over 60mph, even redlining it in 6th but as you need to twist the throttle loads you get a bad wrist :(

ive never ridden a four stroke 125,both my kmx's would do 90mph but being two stroke they were less reliable,i still had plenty of fun though at normal speeds

any bike will do in this weather atm

Yeah I love being out on a bike, I think I might need a bike where I don't lean forward as much, I find with the cbr, all your weight is on the handle bars, you can't grip them lightly as you're being pushed down on them, a more upright bike will allow me to have a looser grip on the bar.
