What did you do to your bike today?

Was it new or used?
Reason I ask is because I've had one for 2 years now.

22k hire/courtesy bike so abused to **** and probably not very well maintained :p

they've decided to payout for the value of my bike without prejudice (ie not admitting liability) so I have to give the hire bike back next week.

but because the claim isn't settled if i buy a new bike for the sake of insurance i wont be able to use my no claims bonus and it will count as a 100% fault claim.

so basically stuck in limbo really. i want to wait for the claim to be over as I'm hoping it comes out non fault, but no transport till then :(

Ah right :) I was going to say, my brakes are one of the best things on mine. The worst things for me is the terrible suspension and arse and leg ache after about 75 miles.

its a terrible seating position i will say but then i need a forward lean to take weight off my back.

the breaks i tried 2 finger breaking and to get them to bite decently i ended up crushing my other two fingers lol had to return to whole hand breaking.

brakes were useless and gearbox seemed iffy, the 1250 though great brakes and the gearbox is solid.

nah i can get to work easy enough, and i can lift share with a lad just down the road.

the issue is theres only 2 more weeks of work till the forced 2 week holiday that was going to be my bike tour of the uk :(

but because they've paid the value of the bike as far as they're concerned i can go buy one right now, but if i did id be ****ed royally on insurance.

I really want to find out if the witness has backed up what he said att he side of the road but dont want to contact him just icnease they think ive interfeared.

Just had a new rear angel St fitted, managed around 4k miles on the old one and that was part worn when I bought it

And congrats tom,how does the sv compare?

The riding position is going to take some getting used to but I jumped on and rode Wolves to Kiddie to Brum last night crashed at a mates then Brum to Kiddie this morning, it was brilliant really nice being able to open it up on the dual carriageways and giving it a little blip so people actually notice me.

I've said I'll work this weekend but I might end up "ill" and the only cure is to get out and do some riding :D

I thought you could get your insurance re-quoted (and backdated) if you're found not to be at fault?

I'm not sure if it depends on the individual insurer, if it's legislation, or if i'm making this up. Worth checking though.

Anybody heard or know anything about this lot ?
http://bluecollarbobbers.com/kawasaki-vulcan-800-400

I won't be buying all my kit from them as I am going to cut down my own front/rear gaurds, Source an old rear light off some old British car, Go to a Bike/Car jumble swap meet for a lot of the stuff I need.

Just booked my birthday week in August off, going to treat myself to some riding round Wales if the weathers good.

:D I'm sure I'll find somewhere! I know a few people on the south cost so there's always some sofa surfing round the coast.

South coastal roads are good round this way and in the new forest. Just Keep going west from there (because Portsmouth is east....)

good man.

i saw your post on TDR, have you checked the frame yet?

Not yet, to be honest I probably wont be able to until it has a front end on it as the company recommended both here and on TDR require a rolling chassis with a motor in it. I did watch a Dave Moss video where he said you should undo the mounting bolts to let it relax then tighten them up again, guess it can't hurt to do. Trouble is being based down in the South West everything is really far away! :(

I love what you are planning for the VN800 4T5. Makes me want to bag one and do it myself.

Go for it Bud it's an easy way of building yourself a unique bike & there's nowt technical or difficult about doing it especially if you use the kits from BlueCollarBobbers, They even send a vid out with each item. All of the kits are bike specific so should fit on nice. I'm going to do as much as I can from Car/Bike jumble bits keeping the cost down & making it far less likely to see owt like mine when finished.

Got rid of those Gay xmas tree lights on the front which has cleaned the front end up nice. Also fished out all the wires that have been added & generally tidied the wiring up.

Can't wait till I've got some spare cash to rip that ugly rear end off & change those 1980's indicators :p

I bought the stuff today from my local shop, had 10% off each item...

Quickly jumped in the gear, waited till the rush hours stop as the traffic was unreal, especially when there're so many road works around my area... and went off for a 70 mile trip to test out the gear.

Had to buy some new mirrors because someone broke my scooter left mirror, I don't know what they tried to do, but they broke the metal arm...
At first I thought that someone dropped my scooter, as I left it on the central stand and it was on the side stand, but no mark or anything, just the broken mirror.

Also on my big bike someone just messed with the cover, I don't know if it was someone curious to know what was under the cover or what, but I always leave it covered completely, but when I got there the cover was up on both wheels. It is parked in a close car park.

Swapped out the headlight bulbs. Turns out one of them as already a 55w osram... seems a bit brighter but will have to take it out at night to see if its made any difference.

Failing that ill clean the inside of the casing. If no change ill get some 100w bulbs, which for some reason are cheaper than the 55w ones i bought
