What did you do to your bike today?

I havnt but they look similar size to my zx10,I can't see them being to small

Fireskull will know,he's tall but has the gsxr1000,there's not much if any difference in size to the 600

Checked the tyre pressure. Not sure why it's taken me so long to do this as I lube or clean the chain every week. I found the rear tyre was like 30psi when it should be 42psi, feels like a different bike now.

I knew that I should prepare some lube before doing quotes, but I didn't think they would be that bad...

GSX-R 600cc 2008-onwards - £3150

KAWASAKI ZX-6RR NINJA 2005-onwards £2330

That's with 1 year NCB... :(

Edit:

KAWASAKI ER-6F ABS 2008 - £460 and for 2012-2014 £550 and 2014-onwards £580 lel?

All those prices are for fully comp.

That's as a new rider right?

I got the same, basically forget any sport bike until you've had your licence a year, at least.

Daytona 675 £1200
GSXR S-RAD £1500

where as street triple £500, CBR600F (sport tourer, not a supersport) £500. All as a new rider.

Once I've had my licence a year with 1 years NCD a Ducati Multistrada will be under £400.

A 675R with the same licence held for a year and 1 years NCD: £550.

Oh and I pay about £90-odd a year TPFT for my CB400, and that's with 10k miles a year, 0 NCD, new rider :D

2000-2004 - £1150 3rd party only

My postcode is cat. B, A being the best.

Yeah, the only issue is that I'm looking at the quotes as I only just passed my A2 and I'm 19. So that's why my quotes are so high even when I put in 1 year NCB...

It'll be mainly as you're just passed your test. It'll come down hugely after you've had your licence a year, as you can see from my quotes.

Just done exactly the same quote on the 675R, only with licence held under a year. That £550 becomes £860. Your age won't help either, I'm mid 30's, so get the old fart discount. :D

You'll have to do a load of quotes to see what is insurable. TBH I'd forget about a sport bike, unless you want to lube up for the insurance. Try some quotes on street triples or similar, you'll be surprised.

It's because you have 0 years no claims,it will comedown

Third party only ain't no good, you want fully compl or tpft

I'll buy the GSXR when I do my A, I'm only 18 now instead of restricting a GSXR, I'll get something like SV650 or something along those lines that's not 100hp+ stock but more like 60hp stock. :p

BTW SUZUKI SV 650 S 1999-Onwards £400

Yeah insurance is retarded. A 600cc supersports bike is something like triple the insurance compared to my double the value, faster, more powerful Speed Triple

It's just like cars though. An 18 yo can get cheaper insurance on something like a big 3l Jaguar compared to something every other teenager gets as their first car.

It's all based on stats that are in a computer. In my experience every chav that's passed their test goes for a GSXR or other sports bike and so the insurance costs more :(

Oh ur 18? I didn't think you were that young,no wonder its high then

What about an er6f or an sv650? That will tide you over till you can afford a sportsbike, they will be quick aswell

Yep, something naked will be cheap - Hornet, ER6, SV650, whatever.

A Hornet is 100hp and will probably be just as cheap to insure and won't get boring while you build up your no claims etc. :). 60hp naked would get a bit boring I reckon.

Yeah, I pretty much hit 18 not that long ago. I've been working since I was like 16, but mainly part-time and full time in summer. I'm quite lucky with my current job as I managed to pass their tests, so in terms of cash I can afford a GSXR. Although my parents still hate the idea of me riding a bike, but now they can't stop me as I can afford it. :p

So yeah, its not so much about not being able to afford the bike, as I can afford it. It's the insurance which is a pain in the backside...

The lovely law in the UK won't allow me to ride anything above 47HP whilst having A2 license, after 2 years from the time of doing my A2 I can do DAS (unrestricted A cat) at the age of 21. So no matter what bike, I will be stuck at 47HP 2 years from the time that my license is issued...

My 98 zx6 is only 9bhp more than the hornet,plenty power 109bhp

And yh its the insurance that's the killer, when your young, and even worse should you ever claim

Oh didn't see you're on A2. That sucks :(

Oh well, just get an ER6 or SV650 for now. Still lots of fun to be had with 47hp on a bike :). Guess you'd still have to restrict those though

Yeah, but my 18th birthday was like 3 months ago, so still a long time intill I can do my A2. I was waiting till my 18th as I thought you could do A2 at this age, but UK has different law to the one in my country I originally come from. :(

I still remember when my cousin did his cat A unrestricted license when he was 18, before those stupid rules came in... I love how people are saying that government cares about your safety, but no one mentions how much money it costs to do all the courses, theory tests...

BTW

Car license is too easy though, so many bad drivers on the roads...

It has been raining hard for over 24 hours now and wanted something to do so fit a new battery.

I decided to get a LiFePo4 mainly for the way they can hold a charge but also for the extra starting power and less weight is a bonus.
Shouldn't have to worry about plugging the Optimate in at all but silly not to have one just in case.
Battery was £78 and charger £55.

Top part of that side fairing just above where the battery sits is a real pig to get the clips in!
