What did you do to your bike today?

Thanks although the weather is looking pretty grim, hence the textiles lol

Chris

The M7RRs are pretty good in the wet too, enjoy!

I had short 100 mile run out in the Peak District today instead of my usual North Wales route. I guess I'm kinda spoiled by Wales these days, didn't really find the Peaks very interesting or fun like I used to and wasn't feeling it so headed home. It's a shame it's likely to be one of my last day days out for 2015.

yeah,i think it lets you pick if you want a border or a badge or not

what size plate you going for? 7 x 5" ?

According to the Ebay page, anything under 9" x 6.5" is illegal?

yeah but you shouldn't get pulled, maybe if you go less than 7x5"

they probably state that to cover themselves,im going for that size myself

could be camchain tensioner rattle aswell? if valves have never been done though its worth checking I suppose

shouldn't be hard on a v twin

if its bucket and shim valves they should get quieter if anything

i did some searching and found a youtube vid if an SV make the same sound but on idle. In commends he said soon after the vid he bent two valves.

I'll ask the garage to confirm when i call or take it down.

Thinking about this it could be something else......When I went to change the oil it was pretty low...as in no oil in viewing window. Checking SV forums it's possible I could have starved front rod/ crank bearing of oil....
Either way I don't know just yet.

Not sure if I should use it for commuting until I find out though

I stick to the stock size, there a bit keen round here and up past matlock bath where I ride a lot.
got done way back in the 80s for one that was 5x3 lol it was on the bike when I got it though.
£26 fine and had to take it to a shop for a signed letter saying they have seen its now legal size, they charged £10 for that
since then I just haven't bothered with them

Are there any supersport bikes that have 94bhp or less? All the new bikes that go under A2 build quality is crap...

how much bhp is the er6? EDIT: not supersports though

@shaken yeah ive always ran stock plates myself, but fancied a 7x5" one (any smaller than that then they tend to take notice of it)

they normally tell you to take it to mot station and get the ticket they give you stamped, atleast that's what they did for a worn tyre with mine

It would require some financial investment to make it look right, as stock is ugly. But! After some mods it doesn't look bad, now at 6ft1 I wonder what the comfort will be like...

E.g.

Edit:

The best thing about this bike is, that it actually sounds like a big bike... all those CBR500R's and other A2 bikes sound like little quadbikes.

Fitted my new camera - DBPOWER 'action camera' from Amazon for £42 - well impressed considering the price. Comes with tons of mounts etc. so you can put it pretty much anywhere + works with all the GoPro mounts.

This looks really good for the price, not sure if its not better than the SJ4000/SJ5000. That overtaking, on a little 125 it takes me a good strategy and trashing to take 1 car... :(

Edit:

Just checked the price of CBR650F, that's out of my budget... :/

I think it is the SJ4000, but with no WiFi as if I choose the WiFi version on the same page on Amazon then it says SJ4000.

You must be new to overtaking ;) knock it down to 3rd or 4th and the Duke 125 will overtake anything not going over 50mph, i couldn't do it on my cbr125 as twisting the throttle in any gear above 2nd there was no power but on the Duke i was actually impressed.

It is probably the quickest 4T 125, but I've ridden bigger bikes before (private roads of course!!) and this just feels slow. I wish I bought a 2T, but too much hassle and I do too many miles... Overtaking on 40mph dual roads is fairly easy on duke, but on a single lane 40mph lane with twisties its not that easy. I always wait for an opportunity on the roads going to Hertford, but most overtaking I want to do is on 50-60mph roads which is impossible on a 125 as that's its limit. :p

Edit:

This seems like a bargain, or is that a normal price? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201509066670426

Ahh, I remember the 125 days... even on a varadero with the 'full' 14bhp, overtaking anything going 40-50mph needed to be planned an hour in advance! You had to start accelerating before you got close to the car to make sure you had the speed when you got to the car to make the overtake :p none of this 'knock it down a gear and twist' on a big bike :D

125's are actually a little dangerous when it comes to overtakes, you need so much of a gap and you're exposed to danger for far too long - much better to be past something in 2-3 seconds.
