What did you do to your bike today?

My new boots are sat at home waiting for me and after seeing tomorrows forecast of rain, rain and more rain I'm really hoping they fit because my feet are the only bit of me to get wet at the minute.

Nice and sunny where I am, but knowing how the lovely UK weather likes to change it'll rain..

Hope it doesn't as I really need to clean my bike...

Me too and i still need to do my chain! Noticed it is sagging slightly so need to tighten it up.

Got the use of a car this week and as it was very wet this morning I drove in. My normal commute (18 miles) on the bike is about 40 minutes when the schools are back, it took me an hour and 15 minutes in the car

I really couldn't do that in a car every day, I'd go stir crazy!!

Replacement engine bought. Its only done 13, 000 miles so its 13, 000 miles better off than the current one! Just need to find out when me helpful friend is available

I only washed the lower parts of the bikes where there're no electronics with a powerwash. It was that dirty, it still is... the self car washes are terrible.

So it was the worst case scenario? :(

Have you re-applied some lube to the chain?

Nope, didn't have time been caught by the rain just after I washed the bike.

Edit:

Are there any car/bike washes around Hertfordshire that don't use a brush? By that I mean you can just spread out like a foam with the lance and then just rinse it off. That's how I washed my granddads vintage bike (of course I used private roads to get there! :p), the brush is terrible... This is what the self wash point looked like.

Watch from 02:00
I used this type of point to wash my ped when I was younger at age 13-14 (I was legally riding, just saying.)

The thing is I don't have an external source of water, I have one of those mitts. They're so much better than a sponge. For drying I have a massive microfibre which is enough to dry the whole bike.

But that's effort tho, I would bring my products along with me to that car wash and just use the jetwasher to rinse it off and make her wet.

normal hose reel and a connector that fits to your sink tap?

those garage ones are useless, they beep beep beep too fast, not enough time to get everything clean

Don't have a driveway at the front of my house, there's a garden a steep downhill and then there's the street. At the back of the garden this wouldn't work either, so nope only a bucket+sponge.

If I find one of those car washes that don't use a bursh, I'll never bother washing with a bucket of water tbh. Cars are bigger, but so much easier to wash :p

Washing your bike...

Washing? Hmm, nope! Have no idea what you're going on a about :o:D

Cleaning, jeeez... I need a commuter bike, that'll get some ACF50 and will never be clean. :D

Edit

I hope I pass my A2 license, do you filter on your exam or should I avoid doing so? I'd imagine its harder than my car exam was, that was ez.

Yeah don't filter, if you get caught in traffic it's just less time for the examiner to find any faults. Win win!

TBH with my bike it does get a clean every so often, but the engine paint is flaking off in places, the lower fork legs are pitted and weathered, the rear shocks are a little crusty, and the swingarm is dirtier than a 10 quid lady of the night :D But... it does the job of getting me to work in all weathers, being thrown down the road a couple of times, all while never missing a beat.

I will get a second bike that I can polish and keep so clean you could eat off it sometime though.
