What did you do to your bike today?

Lube every few weeks and clean it when I think it's dirty enough for a clean.

Due to me killing an engine I will now be checking the oil every month without fail.

On that note, just got to take the rear exhaust off and the old engine can be dropped out! Hopefully get it all done tonight so I can ride it in to work tomorrow.

I really have missed her. Didn't enjoy riding while the crank was chewing itself

I keep getting tempted to pick up a nice slightly shorter carbon end can :o I've still got a new rear shock, front springs and non rusted up rear indicators to go on as well.
I'm just spending too much time riding it to have time for all those bits as well!

Fitted my refurb calipers on my sv and fitted a mc rebuild kit.

Fitted it all, did it all in good time, and I can say what hell of a difference it makes, the lever is near rock solid. Really happy with it, then noticed left caliper was weeing brake fluid. The fella who refurbished them didn't put the seals in correctly and as piston come out, the dust seal was coming with it. So for now, fitted my old caliper back on.

He sending me some new seals, so will sort that out. But got a problem. The refurbished right caliper is leaking slightly from the threads of the bleed nipple, the threads not the hole. It can't seeing it being stripped as if you push down on it, nothing comes out? It's a new nipple, can you buy any o rings or washers for them? I'll give it off and clean the groove it sits in if there is any crap in there?

Any ideas?

Oh I meant to ask why did you have the fairings off you fightering it?

Sorry to hear about the drop did you have the fairings back on before it or did you scratch the shot out of the frame?

I have the carbs off on a regular basis this year so its to much hassle to take them on and off all the time, im having trouble starting and idling and tuning my jet kit in nicely.

Luckily i locked up before hitting the van which put me into tiny slide with me under the bike before impact, my uber long frame slider, squishy belly and exhaust took the brunt. Still snapped my front brake lever clean off and a very rare and expensive targa mirror.

I'd get them back to the guy and let him sort it to be honest.

I phoned up MCE insurance to tell them I've sold my scooter and stupidly assumed they'd merely amend my policy and I'd pay a small admin fee but oh no, because I've gone from a multi-bike policy to a single bike one I have to pay £204 and that'll cover me til December.
I asked how much it'd be if I got a new quote and cancelled my current policy and that'll be £1,472 TPF&T So it looks like unless I miraculously get a better paying job I'm done being a biker in December. What a crappy way to end the year.

MCE are generally regarded as crap, tried any other places for a price?

I did about a week ago and it's all about the same price, I only went with MCE last year because they were the cheapest. At this point though I can't see me keeping the bike £1500 is too much to pay, I really should have kept the scooter.

leave the policy as it is? till its renewal time then amend it to single bike?

they don't automatically renew your policy either

it aint gonna affect things leaving it as it is

@Ben it shouldn't leak fluid from the nipple, check its tight, other than a helicoil I cant see how youd fix it as it looks like a worn thread

yeah, new owner has it now so it wont affect you or the policy on it I would have thought

it will be a new policy in the new owners name (you cant claim for having it nicked or crashed if you dont own it)

Leaving a policy open on a bike you no longer own? Don't go there.

There was one case where a guy sold his bike and the guy who bought it crashed and died soon after, an innocent mistake of forgetting to cancel his policy left him in a nightmare situation of courts and solicitors, as in the eyes of the insurance he'd let someone ride the bike he'd insured without permission and was liable.

Sold your bike? Tell insurers immediately, or risk the above.

true I suppose but I cant see how they can class it as borrowed when you've sold it and the person who buys it takes out a new policy on it

It's not borrowed, if you read the incident where the guy died the law protects the insurance company as the new owner was uninsured and the previous owners insurance had to pay up, rightly or wrongly that's the law. He sold the bike and no longer has insurable interest in the bike anymore. The insurance company then go after getting their money back and the nightmare begins.

So his first priority, as the bike went out of sight, would've been to pick up the phone and let his insurance company know he sold the bike. It is then down to the insurance company to cancel the policy on the vehicle (as I imagine the database would show a new policy would've been taken out on it. If not...)

We all know as motorists in the UK we get shafted when it comes to insurance, and they'll do anything to get out of paying a claim or backing you up. Don't give them a reason to shaft you!

As I've done a few hundred miles on my new pads, took the bike out to do the bedding in procedure where you brake from 60-20mph 10 times in a row to get the brakes hot.
Then gave them a quick bleed when I got home, still a tiny bit of air in the left caliper - I've tied the lever back and will leave it overnight to hopefully get rid of the last of the air (we're talking minute amounts tbh).
