What did you do to your bike today?

Theft and accident since March! Good going :D

Yeah I was knocked off my scooter while waiting at the traffic lights and had camera footage so why that goes against me is beyond me. The theft is kinda my fault for being naive. My neighbour just left his bike on the road for years and I'd left my scooter there for months so I assumed my ER6F would be ok and 7 days after buying it, it was gone.

The last accident I didn't have footage of but I didn't claim against them and they don't seem to have claimed against me but as I reported it it paints a poor picture and there's the writing off of my Fiat Panda 100HP last year but again that was a rear ending at the traffic lights so no fault.

I've had my Licence since March but I guess the accidents and theft haven't helped.

Ouch, so you're a new rider (licence less than a year), living in London, with 2 claims (or more?), one being theft... is the bike garaged at least? I'm not surprised it's that high tbh, if the theft was from your home that'll bump it up a huge amount too.

Edit: 3 accident claims, 1 being complete loss, and a theft. That won't be helping one bit. Any accident, regardless of fault will increase your premium, if only a little bit.

I'm getting some footage tomorrow from EGX! You'll see a ***** with head mount and Xaomi Yi walking around haha :p

I'll do the firmware update and see if its out of focus once I charge it, currently the battery is at 10%...

Edit

This is where I bought my stuff from, the site is called GearBest

Xiaomi Yi
40M Waterproof Case
Head mount
Helmet Mount

I'll be ordering a selfie stick from that site as I earned nearly 4 dollars credit by purchasing from them, I don't mind waiting as my package was shipped out within 3 days from ordering and it came in less than 2 weeks! I'll surely be using GearBest from now on. :D

Nice one, yeah I saw that was the cheapest place for it at the moment.

Let me know if there's any vignetting with that case.

I had a look in my local currys/pc world today to see if they did the standard go-pro mount/j buckles - they do chest mounts and selfie sticks along with the cameras but no normal spares.

If you've money for GoPro and H2n you should be able to find some spare 10 quid for new bulbs, surely?

Well.... Now that you've put it into perspective I could buy the bulbs but I hate replacing something that isn't broken.

I bought the GoPro 2+ years ago for snowboarding/surfing

And the Zoom was second hand off ebay.

I don't ride my bike if its going to rain so she will be getting less use this time of year. I've had three nasty wheel spins on slippery road surfaces (drain covers/diesel) and It's my first 600cc so don't want to trash it.

I need to get a front wheel lift to keep her off the ground this winter so money for that could go on bulbs from months pay cheque and get the stand closer to Christmas.

I'll see what I have left after rents/bills end of next week.

Ahh, you're confusing them with normal thermal base layers.

Merino wool base layers are very light and thin, when you're sweating and hot they wick sweat away from your skin and hold onto it so you don't get sweaty (perfect for riding when it's 25+ degrees) and they regulate your temperature, i.e. keep you cool when it''s warm and keep you warm when it's cold. It's a thermal layer but also breathable.

I can wear them round the house and be lovely and cosy and warm, but not too warm. It's amazing stuff, merino wool, worth having a read up about. Merino base layers are designed for runners/cyclists as they not only keep you warm or cool but also wick sweat away from your skin.

Oh, cool! I'll definitely check those out then, gets pretty cold in my house as well in the winter, so might be good just to keep on permanently. Might go check them out this weekend if they're still on offer, thanks :)

Nope and can't get it into or out of my front garden if anyone parks in front of my house. :(

How much is S650S/A? Or ER6F? I seriously think that RC390 will be just too slow...

Will do, I'm currently updating the firmware on the Xiaomi Yi, actually the firmware update has been successful. I hope that my Yi doesn't have focus issues neither does it have the audio or draining battery issues...

What makes you think I'm buying an RC390? it was just a curiosity quote:confused:

Still from what I can tell the RC390 is quicker to 60 than my NC700S but again I have absolutely no intention of buying one anyway.

I'll try to keep my bike and see if I cover that stupid quote but if not it'll probably be a CBR250 or leave biking for a while.

You talk so much about RC390 I thought you want to buy one, oh well... not the comfiest bike. :p

That sucks... :(

Really I only mentioned it once before you said it's slow lol but yeah it looks cool and incredibly uncomfortable.

That sucks... :(

Tell me about it! There I was planning on getting a Triumph Tiger 800 or Honda CBR650F and now I'm not sure I can afford the bike I have.

Yeah, RC390 is tiny and you've 0 comfort. The seating position is really aggressive...

That ugly front tho, sounds nice and the back is ok.

I always quite liked the looks and I did my DAS on the naked version so I'm quite fond of it. I've seen ex-demo bikes for around £5500 so not too expensive either but the way things have gone recently it's way outta my price range now.

Didnt get as much done as I wanted on the bike. Exhaust studs were knackered, one of which snapped in the front cylinder. Got replacements for the new engine though.

One of the engine mounting bolts also snapped in the engine casing, but it didnt stop the engine coming out luckily. Still means I have to track down a new one.

On moving the stator between engines found that 3 of the wires are breaking down and on the verge of snapping (probably the cause of my charging issue) - So have ordered a new one along with a gasket for the casing.

Also had to buy a socket set for the pinch bolts on some of the mountings as I cant slacken them off to get new engine in.

First ride in my new boots this morning, was like I was riding a totally different bike my position was all messed up and I was shifting like a one legged donkey :o

Are those the three wires that go from the stator to your rectifier? If so I havnt had a bike yet that hasn't melted those

Your doing well its a big job, something I wouldn't fancy doing

Nice job :D

My SV always looks like that in the back garden! Really need to sort the carbs out again and get it MOT'd, maybe this weekend.... been telling myself that for years...
