What did you do to your bike today?

I did a quick future quote, where I am freshly after DAS at the age of 21 with 3 years of NCB. For a GSXR 750 K8...

my 12 was £160 fully comp I could have shaved more but wanted some specific requirements.

I usually have pillion cover, protected no claims, ride other bikes

MCE throw in free helmet cover breakdown recovery not sure with Bennett's but they tend to charge a lot for amendment's ect

I claimed through them bout 12/13years ago and I found them alright

Idk what they are like now though, the cheapest two for me are MCE/Bennett's

All insurances companies are the same they just want to bend you over you have to play the game each year to lower the price.

In the end after arguing with them they ask me what I want to pay haha.

Fortunately I've never had to claim on my bike insurance. I swap around each year - I'm currently with Hastings Direct. £230 with helmet, gear, top box and contents (£750 I think, but would have to check) covered for UK and Europe along with recovery. My annual mileage is pretty low though - I think it was 7 or 8,000 miles. 7 years NCB.

They always tend to be a rip off in comparison, carol nash nearly all of em

I just shop around online quotes if I think the renewals a bit high, just remember to enter a fake phone number or else they will hound you rotten

Went out yesterday to see if I could fix an issue. After the bike has warmed it starts to sputter at 4krpm. After it started doing I took off my fuel cap as it was suggested to me that it may be fuel starvation. No luck unfortunately.

It's really odd, I can go full throttle at 3krpm or half throttle or quarter but as soon as it gets to 4k it just sputters like mad.

I also need to replace an oil pipe that's started to leak. It's all falling apart :( Something to do during the cold/wet months though and I quite enjoy it. This rpm issue could be trickier to figure out though as it needs thirty minutes to show its head.

Did you check the usual? Plugs/leads/points

There was nothing obvious with the points. The leads and coils are all reporting correct ohmage. It could be the spark plugs but this seems unlikely, one of them is not even that old.

Fuel pipe heating up and collapsing?

Something to look at but I doubt it. I only have about 3 inches of pipe from the tank to the carbs and it's kevlar reinforced stuff.

I think it could be coils/points getting warm and then failing at above 4k, however I'm not sure how I can really prove this. If I think it's definitely that then I would spend a couple of hundred quid on a new electronic ignition setup to replace my points. It's a lot to spend if it turns out there was nothing wrong with my current set up and the issue still remained.

Are the points burnt at all? Another set of those would be cheaper

Could be something entirely different though, ridden it in the wet recently? Could be damp leads plug cap

Seems strange it happens at 4k once warmed up,like something's expanding affecting the fuelling or spark
